Direct line have given me a shocking quote this year.
Any tips welcome before I go searching.

Tell them you're ex-army.
Ours (NFU)went up 25%, we couldn't find it cheaper elsewhere

Try the various compare websites to see if you can get a better quote. And then ring your insurer and tell them you’re off, see what they offer.

Even if you think you have insured them fully until you have to make a claim you have no idea. Insurers will look to small print and your alarm and locks etc etc and try and reduce the payout. Alternatively use Zurich Private Client or Chubb and you will have a hassle free claim. But the premiums are eye wateringQuote:

I received two PM's from members telling me how much insurance is. And UK prices are high indeed. We pay about 40% of that!

My house renewal this year went up just over 100%. Phoned them up to see if there was a reason for it as I’ve had no claims on house insurance for nearly 30 year's and been with this company for the last 5. They just told me their premiums had gone up. Quick check on a comparison site and got slightly better cover for the same price I paid last year. As usual with insurance renewal they just try it on. Wonder how much money they make with their auto renewal strategy 🤔
Got ours renewed with Halifax for pretty much what I paid last year. They’re about the only company I’ve ever encountered that offer the option of paying monthly with no additional cost.

Mine was up £200 from last year, called to see what they can do, and they knocked £150 off the price in a 2 min phone call. Just blatant profiteering and hoping people don't call.
Just rang mine as it's gone up £100 and it was a blatant no to getting it down.
I've cancelled mine and will take the risk. Buildings is covered via the service charge but contents I've stopped as best of luck to anyone trying to rob this flat, being right next to the Concierge office (with full view) and covered by umpteen CCTVs outside.
