IWC Pilots for me.
I always thought if it was judged to be particularly cool (by Mr. Cool himself, Jeremy Clarkson) on Top Gear's cool wall, it immediately ceased to be in any way cool.
In which case I nominate anything with a date window at 4 or 4:30.
Any Zenith El Primero
Omega f300 Speedsonic 'Lobster' ref. 188.0001
 A Rolex fans
I will choose the Rolex on the wall . It will be splendid
an IWC portugiese!
Grand Seiko - 'Snowflake' gets my vote.
omega speedmaster broad hands models
The iconic tag heure Steve McQueen Monaco got to be on the there
Blancpain fifty fathoms would be up there
Nice topic. I'd go for an omega ploprof.
Original Heuer Siffert for me.
I would pick speedmaster mark II
Pelagos would be on there on my wall along with maybe an Aerospace Evo and a SDc
In my eyes anything to do with movies or trips to space puts the watch instantly into 'uncool' territory as I can imagine the following conversation
Normal person - 'nice watch'
Watch nerd - 'thanks it is a remake of a watch that was worn on the moon, it's a limited edition of only 30 thousand but it is special, it has a cartoon image of desperate Dan on the case back as one of the main men at NASA was known to wear Dandy undercrackers for luck'
Normal person - 'is it a Rolex Submariner?'
To be cool a watch would have to appeal to someone with no interest in watches and be a recognisable expensive brand so Grand Seiko would be out, the fact that you would have to explain why a watch is cool makes it instantly uncool
Surely casio's gshocks have to be on this cool wall. Anyone can buy one and anyone can bash it carefree to within an inch of its life only to redo the whole lot again with enough change for a sausage sarnie with ketchup.
Got to be the Genta designs for me. So I'd put a Royal oak up there.
1940s/50s Curvex from Gruen, or Curvex-style from Bulova.
Small by modern standards (narrow but not short) but very cool nonetheless.
Yes, someone is going to say "fnar".
I think the Seiko SKX007/9 should be on the cool wall. They are inexpensive, robust, simple and can be worn with any combination of straps.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Art Deco coolness...
The proper 1930s/40s Panerais with Rolex movements.
Swatch system 51.
I think there would have to be a Navitimer up there...
Simon
Fortis B-47
A vintage Tudor Sub would also be my pick , very cool looking watch imo .
Something German for sure. Hard to think of one that's been shown on TZ which isn't cool.
This will divide opinion possibly, but German and limited to 50 pieces.

Never seen that before. I like that case shape, has a certain daytona/ tudor big block vibe about it. The hand set doesnt really do much for me but certainly a unique piece. When does it date back to?
Any watch unlikely to adorn the wrist of the common herd, ie the bloke down the pub. :devilish:
Seiko discusburger
Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope
Ventura Spark MGS
Smiths PRS-40
White dialled Daytona 6263
Explorer 1655
Flightmaster
Big Blue
AP RO thin
Surely anything by Nomos? No one outside of WIS knows of them but their quality and designs should be enough.
Hanhart monopulse
Vintage Blancpain Fifty fathoms
Rolex Rootbeer GMT (nipple)
Rolex 5512/5513 (mil spec)
rolex 1665 SD
Panerai 3634
Panerai 6154
Rolex (day/date)
Rolex Skydweller
JLC Deepsea or Polaris
I wasn't going to respond to this thread, but I guess I have now.
Someone said film or space travel tie ins were uncool.
That seems such a wide gap that you might as well say ANY watch is uncool!
Film tie ins yes, very uncool (although if the watch looks good to you, who cares?), but space travel??? FFS, if you're wearing a watch that is the same as the handful of people who've walked on the moon or travelled in space wore when they did, how the hell is that uncool? And if it is, what IS cool?
Most vintage watches are cool, they just are (except digital ones, you still look like a nerd wearing one, sorry...), the idea that an unknown brand outside of the WIS clique could be 'cool' is laughable (remember folks, in the real world people who refer to their watch by numbers are on a par with diesel trainspotters!).
Do I have any candidates?
No, because one man's cool is another man's ridiculous, as the Top Gear wall proved many times...

You don't have to explain why it's cool. It just is 😊
It may have been a long time ago but it's still one of mankind's most impressive achievements.
Apollo 13 too, a triumph of human ingenuity in the face of adversity.
Like I said, one man's cool, another's ridiculous - the whole idea of defining cool is absurd...
