As its the 60th anniversary of James Bond my social media is a buzz with Omega's James Bond credentials. We all know the various bond watches from Rolex, to Seiko, to Omega, but what do we think a modern day field operative would actually wear?

I suspect it would not be a watch with any sort of GPS function due to the operational security risks these present. Likewise it would be better to wear something that would not be affected by an electromagnetic pulse. Useful complications would be solar navigation in an emergency and a second time zone, so for that reason, plus the ability to wear it in any situation, I would propose the Explorer II 226570 (with the improved lume). Alternatively the Tudor FXD.
It wouldn't be a smart watch as he'd have to leave it in a locker with his mobile phone outside any tempest controlled area...total pain in the ass.
Something that wouldn't attract attention. A Lorus or a Sekonda.

Not a Rolex, insufficient spend history with the AD.
Scratching my head trying to think of something clever, but in reality I just see Bond with an Omega. It's a good fit.
For formal attire it would still be a Rolex or Omega but for missions it would have to be either a cheap Casio or a G-Shock. Nothing that emits. Nothing identifiable. Nothing flashy. Although you could argue that a Rolex Sub would make for an excellent 'emergency cash' situation.

Thankfully no one has said Bremont. I still think it would be a Rolex.
From current offerings a back dial Explorer II or a Sub ND.

Depends what you mean by real James Bond. The Bond character enjoyed the finer things in life and so could see him wearing a luxury sports watch.
If you mean an actual spy then prob something discreet and probably GShock.

Either GShock or Vostok Amfibia. I like to think an old well used Skx007. For missions obviously.
For formal etc Blancpain or Glashutte.
Picture the scene, Mr Bond is in a Casino, wearing hix Tux, trying to woo the enemy (female) agent. He strikes up a conversation, she asks the time, he pulls back his shirt cuff to reveal his beaten up old Garmin.....lol. I think not.
Or maybe she would be impressed by his step count?

It would also appeal to Bond's dry, ironic humour knowing he's wearing the terrorists' favourite IED timer - and being the resourceful chap he is, he'd no doubt be able to improvise in similar manner in moments of crisis. Lastly, at £7.80 a shot, it would be just about affordable to MI6 in these financially-straitened times...

Wasn't part of the reason for him wearing a Submariner that it would work well as a knuckle duster if he needed one? I wouldn't fancy getting a Hublot to the side of the head.
Surely it would depend on the legend he was using at the time?

I was trying to avoid saying an explorer but yes, I can’t think of anything that would suit Bond better. As water resistant as anyone would need, good in the dark, relatively subtle and very acceptable with a suit and tie.Quote:

The ex-RN, MI6 hero of James Swallow's thriller series wears a CWC RN diver that seems to have evaded the dekitting process.
Whatever he gets paid to wear or whatever is supplied.
'He's mocking us'. Bond's flat interjection brought the meeting to a sudden silence. 'We don't even know if he is a he', M replied, with weary patience, her hands unconsciously plucking at the Tiffany pearls at her neck. Bond noted the tell with irritation but conceded the point. M turned her head and inspected Bond. Bond ignored her, peeling back the immaculate sleeve of his slate alpaca Tunbull & Asser suit to pointedly glance at his watch. M eyed Bond's vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual in irritation. A secret agent really couldn't afford these affectations and it struck her that, for an agent, Bond was not nearly secret enough.
'Go over it again', she asked softly. Bond paused for a moment before reciting curtly: 'May fifteenth, the first leak. No one even noticed until Mossad kindly pointed it out. Bond grimaced. 'How they knew about the affair in Egypt at all is another question. The next leak mentioned Markov by name and suddenly things got rather busy. At that point, the cousins were little more than amused, but the most recent breach outed that bloody Yank;' 'Officially,' M stated sharply, cutting Bond off, 'Bourne does not exist'. 'Neither does Markov,' Bond observed, rubbing the stitches ruefully.
'Q, tell us about this...', M hesitated, as if searching for the right word, 'this forum'. Startled, Q glanced up from his glossy Alienware laptop, 'they talk about watches Ma'am'. 'Watches? is that all?' M asked incredulously. 'Actually,' Bond interjected; 'it can get damn interesting sometimes'. M and Q both turned slowly to stare at Bond. Bond flopped back in his chair, his hands spread palm up in mock surrender, an ironic smile playing on his cruel lips...
