Two nights in Copenhagen - Recommendations please.

We’ve two nights without the kids in Copenhagen coming up, at the end of the month.

Staying at the Admiral Hotel by the water. Any recommendations for things to do, places to eat. It’s already expensive so I’m looking for street food for the day and a stylish but relatively good value for the evening. We’re not collecting Michelin Stars or celebrating any special occasion.

If it’s dry we’ll hire a couple of bicycles and try and get a boat trip booked. Tivoli Gardens is on the list as is the Round Tower. Not looked at much else yet so I’m happy for any ‘must see’ recommendations please.

A.C. Perch do a nice afternoon tea. Imagine Betty's but with cooler staff.

I assume you've missed a "not" from there, given the relatively good value requirement. I can't give any advice on Copenhagen as I've never visited, but it's still on my short-list - I guess The Killing tour is a bit dated now (which looks to have morphed into the Nordic Noir tour, to include Borgen and The Bridge) ... I'd also be hiring a bike for at least part of it.

I watched Richard Ayoade's Travel Man episode on Copenhagen, the Cycle tour was amusing. I feel my Mrs would rather a LV, Prada, Chanel kind of tour.

This always used to have some great street food. Really good duck sandwiches though I cannot remember the name of the specific outlet there Was just behind where I used to live !

Head to the Meat Packing District for a decent selection of beers and food.

Yes, anything can happen. Dane’s like the “no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes” approach. We used to cycle everyday, all year. Rain/snow/sun whatever

I recommend the Bo-Bi bar for a couple of drinks.

I think there are 3-4 Mikkeller bars now. Pricey but fantastic beer

For something else: Go to the Louisiana Museum for Modern Art in Humlebæk, about 35 kms to the north. Best to do this on a bike and you should take the Gammel Stranvejen (Old Beach Road) up there. The scenery along the coast and the houses overlooking the water are breathtaking. (A quick look on a houses-for-sale website shows that the the homes that are for sale on that road are interestingly priced as well...)

Just watch your head in the Admiral Hotel. The higher the floor the less headroom and it’s extremely easy to bash your head on the many beams in the rooms!

The waterside is good for wandering around, worth seeing the Palace and the Opera House.

Magstræde has plenty of restaurants. It’s touristy but not in a bad way and the food isn’t bad at most restaurants there!

And I’d pack for weather as if you’re visiting the North of England at the same time. Take a waterproof/wind proof coat but it shouldn’t be too cold by then.

I'd also recommend Louisiana but can't help thinking it's a bit optimistic to get there by bicycle - I seem to remember taking the train.

I managed to get this shot from my phone on the way to the airport yesterday morning around 7am. We'd been down the street a few times over the weekend, for those that don't know it, it's called Nyhavn and is probably the most photographed street in Copenhagen. Every unit on that side of the water is a bar or restaurant, packed with outdoor seating, and nearly all full all weekend. So it was nice to see it empty early on.

I decided against taking my camera which I thought I may regret, but travelling light was nice and with a bit of colour tweaking in Photoshop the images from an iPhone 12 look pretty good.

A good weekend and The Admiral Hotel, RestaurantBarr, Illum's Roof Top Restaurants, and Maple Casual Dining all worthy of a visit.

Fantastic photo, I’m often amazed how good the iPhone camera can be.

Probably the best complimentary bar....

The Copenhagen Card which you can buy for your stay worked well for us when we visited last December.

It includes access to the major attractions and (excellent) city and surrounding area transport if I recall correctly. Well worth a google given the sites you already mention. The Tourist Info in the city was ‘ok’ but no more helpful than the Visit Copenhagen site.

We enjoyed a couple of boat trips and many sites including Tivoli Gardens (during the Christmas Carnival). We were not overwhelmed by the Little Mermaid.

I got back Monday night from a weekend there visiting my son who's in the DR Orchestra there. Lovely place.
