Which watch! 2 rather left-field choices

There are 2 watches I have been thinking too much about for too long, and I probably need to just commit to one in order to free myself and gain a reprieve from my slake-less thirst for the next shiny bauble…

So, whaddya reckon?

Both big-ish.
42mm on the Polaris, but internal bezel makes it plate-like on the wrist!

43 on the Blancpain, and slim bezel, so actually quite large.

Similar thickness.

21mm lugs for JLC
23mm for Blancpain

Of course both in house movements and technically excellent.
Both have crystal caseback to enjoy the views!

Both 200m WR.
PR is slightly better on the JLC

The Blancpain is just mental with complications, and I love the moonphase so much

The variety of greens on the JLC are mesmerising

The JLC is probably £3k+ cheaper (for a pre-owned minter), as I’d have to get the Blancpain new.

That would be my choice regardless, but with it being a special edition I'm going to assume the resale value would be decent as well? Not that that should matter, but I do always like to know I can get out of a watch without having my arse handed to me.

The JLC is stunning.. that every day for me.

Multiple complications on a dive watch is a no from me. As for JLC, twin crowns @ 2 and 4 would annoy me, although I have a Gruppo Gamma in the same, though rarely worn.
If I had to choose, it would be the JLC. The fitted strap end on the rubber is nice, the Blancpain has too much 'air' 'tween case & strap.

JLC for me, I just be waggling my wrist in the sun? To see it change shade.

The Blancpain for me.
I hate that the JLC have the ”aged” yellowish lume but the calendar is snow white.

Massive fan of the green fume dial on the Polaris.

Been very close to buying one twice over the last year.

And still not sure why I haven’t.

I like both of them, but - the JLC is very special.

The correct answer is obviously both 😜

I think the Polaris is definitely the better looking watch, but can't get past the partly lume'd minute hand "disappearing" every 5 mins when it sits over an hour marker. It would drive me up the wall.

I would therefore pick the BP, or get the 41 no-date version with fully lume'd hands.

Strewth - they're both glorious, I'd love either of them!

It would be a daft thing that would sway me: I dislike straps >22mm wide!

Without doubt the Polaris, stunning!

The JLC

Sometimes less is more, JLC for me.

The JLC is gorgeous. I keep looking to the centre circle though, for the memovox function which isn’t there.

Both lovely but the JLC would be my choice. Green dial, fitted strap, bosh.

I'm a BP fanboy and love my 43mm Bathy, but it's the JLC for me by a whisker as I can't get my head around a moonphase complication on a diver.
What about GO diver as an alternatives?

What a tough choice. Both really nice and don’t think you can go wrong either way. For me, I would have boring grey to go with my boring wardrobe 😎

The green fume is hands down my favourite JLC release in a LONG time. It's an exceptionally attractive watch imo.

Personally, I am not a fan of the blancpain.
a) Bathyscaphe lugs irritate me (ive had one) - They are too long and the gap between strap and case is too big and gets right on my nerves. You can wear thicker straps ofc, but the head is fine so putting it on a thick strap to compensate is also visually jarring.
b) I think dive watches should be simple - 3 hands and a date max. That is a perp cal in a dive case and imo it's just too busy.

The JLC looks much cleaner to me.

The dial looks too crowded vertically through the middle of the BP. Not sure if that makes sense

JLC Polaris for me, but I’m biased as I’m lucky enough to own the no date Polaris in blue.

I was initially a bit concerned about the size but it doesn’t wear too large and it’s become my daily wearer. I just love it on the blue rubber strap.

It still feels special to wear after almost two years.

The JLC's dial is much nicer, so that one.

JLC for me. The design hangs together a lot better and the colour is gorgeous.

I love the bonkers complexities of the BP, and aesthetically I think it is lovely.
But 23mm lug spacing and all that space betwixt case and strap has niggled at me, and been commented on here - and I know deep down it would get to me in the end.
And flipping strange 5-figure watches is less than simple, without taking a bit of a spanking.

I also love both the variations and points of interest across the dial of the JLC, and the green, and have been chasing a green-ish watch for a while without satisfaction.
