Moon and the Sun aren’t planets either - What were they thinking!!!![emoji6][emoji1]

Nothing is too cynical when it comes to this sphere of marketing. Using the environment as a product is, in and of itself, unbelievably cynical. Why would I not react in kind.
Market the watches because they are good watches. Not imply that they might save the world with huggy-fluffy re-used materials (that themselves must require considerable energy to re-manufacture): They can't and won't save anything. They are primarily showmanship.
Quite so. If we are concerned with the environment then what we already have might actually be best.
Also, I don’t think they’ve specifically referred to them as ‘planets’, have they?
Even the term 'bioceramic' is just a marketing gimmick - it's neither a bioceramic in the usual sense (a ceramic compatible with the body) or what the name suggests (a biologically derived ceramic).
I've been wearing mine for 24 hours now, and the velcro is softening up.
Going to try some different straps on it tomorrow - I've got a lot in 20mm to choose from!
It's funny how so many seem to have an issue with a price of £200 for a "plastic" cased Swiss ETA Chronograph watch yet £145 for a bit of Omega branded fabric is fine. Presumably if that fabric also had Swatch branding it'd only be worth a tenner.

I think they're great things, but of fun while being associated with some pretty special and spectacular watch heritage.
First inclination might have been towards Mercury but on balance they're not supposed to be subdued and sombre and I think one of the brighter versions would be more appropriate.
I'm having a hard job not viewing them like Mondaines. I'm railway through and through and love the idea of a Swiss railway watch or even clock on the wall, but I can't get past the thought I'm spending £200+ on a whim, it's going to sit in the box, can't see a time when I'd ever reach for it.
I agree with this. I own a Speedmaster Mk2 and can't see myself buying a Moonswatch because I can't see myself wearing it. It would be a drawer purchase for me. The only reason I could justify would be if it was going to be discontinued in, say, a year and then unavailable. Then it might be a collectible piece of Speedmaster history. I'm not talking value either, just the fact it would be unobtainable.
I think those in funky colours are the perfect holiday watch. Not a disaster if it’s damaged, they look good, and if you’re bothered what others think, it shows you’ve an interest in watches. Dig out your finest budgie smugglers and get one to match those.
The worst part of a holiday is putting your watch through airport security, plaggy swatches are made for that.
Just pop your holiday watch in a jacket-coat pocket or in your shoes when you place them in the grey box for the scan session, no problemo...ah the romance.
I always take a watch case with me and stick it in the backpack before getting to security. I have been witness to a disaster before though…going through security, he took his Black Bay off and dropped it on the concrete floor. I felt the pain!
I don’t really buy holiday watches. Would rather take a nice watch but leave it in the safe if I’m going to the beach.
Watchpod cases are perfect for this :encouragement:
This may be completely unfounded, but I place zero trust in hotel safes to actually be secure. Presumably people forget the codes daily, so staff must have an override and hotels always say it's left at your own risk.
I don’t know why anyone would buy one of these ridiculous watches. They are terrible.

Always works for me.
As time has gone by I’ve lost interest. I got caught up in the excitement for a few days hoping they would be available online and I could buy one, or several.
Now I really cannot be arsed, I hate waiting and I’ve come to the conclusion they’re just a stunt. Missed your chance there Swatch. Nevermind.
I specialised in cyber security before I retired, and spent many nights in business-class hotels along the way.
One evening, I noticed that my room safe was not physically secured to anything, so I lifted it out of its cupboard (as you do) to have a look. On the back of the safe was a sticker with the (very easy to remember, and obviously standard across that range of safes - won't mention it here, but it was along the lines of 777777777777) override code. A quiet word with the manager, and when I got back to my room the following evening the safe was very firmly secured to the wall. However, on subsequent visits to that hotel chain I was always able to use that override code to open my room safe. I'm sure that the code was also common knowledge among the hotel staff.
These days I use a PacSafe TravelSafe - a 12L for laptop, etc in hotel rooms, and a 5L for mobile phones, etc when at a pool or similar. No, they won't sustain a professional attack, but they will stop an opportunist, and I have good travel insurance should anything get stolen. https://pacsafe.co.uk/collections/portable-safes-bag-protectors
Meanwhile, back to the topic of the thread - yes, I'll probably get one for the fun of it. I'll also look forward to a future Swatch x Bregeut :-)
Year's ago I had a Speedy which I just didn't get on with, just thought it was meh, but I can see me getting one of these - a £200 Speedy knock off that isn't.

The swatch shop Oxford Street at 9:30 yesterday morning
I would quite like to have one of those, but won't be going to London to buy one.
Perhaps the prices will go down to normal levels when more are available second hand, who knows?
Lots on EBay for £500 buy it now or best offer. Makes a mockery of those alleged “sales” for £5000+
Maybe some panic from the people who bought fools gold?
I popped into Swatch on Carnaby St on Wednesday. They had no stock but they said that the Convent Garden and Oxford St stores would be getting stock (and will be the only stores to carry the watch.)
I would definitely like to add 1 or 2 of these to my collection although not sure i would wear them but still great looking watches.
I was going to say that it feels like the hype has died down already, but seeing the picture above of people still queuing for opening to see if there’s any new stock makes me think that it’ll still be a while yet until Swatch make them available online.
I’m in Paris at the minute and can confirm the hype is still real. Enormous lines outside the stores which have them, people lining up way before the stores open.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m shocked how easy to manipulate the masses.
Especially knowing that “sustainable” does exist for long time in the watch industry.
I can’t see how a product which can work for decades or -let’s say- a century requiring only manual or automatic winding and some servicing here and there wouldn’t be environment friendly.
The only fault I of the mechanical watch is that you don’t need to replace it for decades and consumer society don’t like it.
Any more photos from members here? Surely a few more people must have managed to get hold of one?
I’m really interested to see “live” photos, especially on different straps.
And there are fakes of these now apparently, priced at $148 according to another conversation I’m following. Bizarre.
