I remember them being knocked out - around £300 IIRC.

My 16800 Sub from 1983. Bought new for the equivalent of about £495.00 whilst abroad and still gets lots of wrist time!

My father’s lovely solid gold Longines from 1953, which he bought new to celebrate my birth.
He passed away over 50 years ago and I still wear it and look after it.

A rather paltry 3 years.
Or 10 if you count "NOS"
Bought a Seiko SKX009 new for my birthday back in 2009, still going strong almost 15 years later.
Thought I'd lost it in a house move for a few years only to find it in a random box - like getting a new watch! treated it to a new Uncle Seiko strap to mark the reunion.
I bought this Caravelle new in December 1966 as I was about to leave again for Vietnam...still running!

Bought this in 2000. Haven't worn it for about 10 years! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cf6f49972b.jpg
Over 41 years since it was purchased and still going strong. It seems Seiko is well represented as the first watches many of us had that were meaningful.

CWC G10 - 22 years, still gets plenty of wrist time. Especially if things are likely to get scratchy =)

It is lovely to see a lot of vintage watches here owned from new. I've only had this for 14 years, bought to celebrate a significant work achievement and worn daily for three years, until the need to have more watches kicked in. It's not been serviced yet and still runs at +0.5 secs per day.

That is amazing.
I got given something similar. It was my Mum’s partners watch, well one of them. Unfortunately it’s dead. I changed the battery but it didn’t restart. Apparently the movement is not available as a spare part. I did wonder if it was worth exploring to get it fixed. Your post makes me think that I should
