Even though I'm a bystander in all this, for my money and in my very humble, the Seiko Monster in it's various forms is going to be one of those iconic watches of our current times. I was hovering and very nearly pulled the trigger on one local to me recently. Given I'm one of those dyed in the wool it has to be vintage/preferably circa the Boer war/automatics are the very devil's work saddos this came as a psychic shock to me. One of the gorgeous "special edition" blue/gold jobs and in the end it sold for a really good price too. I think I pulled a muscle from kicking myself...
Just shoved my new Tuna on a leather zulu....
Nice.

Love Seikos, lots of great examples in this thread. I've only got the two at present (plus one Grand Seiko).
Here's my ones:

These both get worn quite a bit and are both reliable and comfortable.
Love the orange hand!
Really enjoyed this thread! I don't know why really ;)
Here's three of mine together

Cheers!
What's the white dial watch? Looks like an ananta, but I've not seen a black bezel?
Anyone else clocked this seller on the bay?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201077688634
^^they are obviously appreciated by some buyers - they sell a few!! It's not like they are being hawked off as anything other than Modified... Perhaps they could leave out the Authentic and Vintage.
Here's a square 5626 rare Chronometer from 1974 (another 'non' King Seiko!).
I like to wear this often, it is very accurate and looks great.
The watch is lovely but my photo isn't very good. SEIKO on the dial looks black in the photo, but is actually polished silver/chrome.

Have we seen one Ananta yet?
2 new arrivals and one back from having a new glass fitted.

I haven't worn this for years. I bought it from a great Horological shop in Porto in 2002. I actually bought an omega SM 600 but they just couldn't seal it for some reason. It was misting up under my sleeve, Porto is notorious for being wet and warm.
Anyway. I went back to the shop and my flight was that evening. I ended up taking this new instead. In hindsight what a mistakatomaka but still. It was a good servant until my proper watch obsession took off!

I have a couple in my small collection.
My SKX031 is my normal daily wear, but I have been wearing this for the last week or so, and really enjoying it.

@Mariod: as usual your collection is beyond awesome. Can you please enlighten me about the L.E. turtle? Is it really a military issued watch or something like that?

This watch has been around a few other TZ members, but was returned to me today :-)
That's a hell of a Seiko timeline! Great collection!
No it is not unfortunately. The seller (a 70+ year old gentleman) is a Sergeant of the French Foreign Legion and served in the 1st Foreign Parachute Regiment from '57-'63 as a Paratrooper and Combat diver. After his service he still enjoyed diving so in 1978 he bought this Seiko 6309-7040 for diving. He gave his Seiko to a comrade in 1981 and his wife returned this watch to him in 2004 after the comrade has passed away. The Seiko was still working but did show many signs of wear and the crown didn't work properly. So, in 2006 he sent it to Seiko Germany for a service. They replaced the whole case and crown and stem and serviced the watch. After that he didn't wear it often anymore but engraved the case back for sentimental reasons. Still a very nice Seiko imho :tennis:

Today's beater... love the near invisible dial decoration - almost impossible to photograph :)
Today's Arrival.

One day we'll all end up having owned one of those. Or the MM600. Has to be done, really.
Anyway. The strap for my SARB035 turned up today, so any excuse:

Bizarrely I found myself looking at my own photo of this watch (a few posts up) and thinking that photo doesn't truly show what a great yellow this dial is. I managed to take a photo almost exactly 48 hours later, which I hope shows the stunning colour better?
A great meet with shalako tonight, and guess what. seiko tastic! After less than 12 hours with my MM300 I now have an MM600!

Not sure lying on the kitchen floor with a watch, wine bottle and phone first thing in the morning is entirely normal, but hey ho.
