I'm guessing that it would be green or green as any other strap colour would probably clash with the green dial? My personal opinion of course.

Brown leather compliments the green dials nicely
Still on mine...

I’ve just had this made by David Cordes. Shell Cordovan leather so will patina and darken over time. Dave is my preferred strap maker for my Panerais. Should arrive next week.

I’ve also ordered one of these in tan. Never used them before so don’t know what the quality will be like.

Both will work with my blue 43 and my green chrono.
I’ll post photos once they’ve arrived.

I was deviating away from the colour of a strap on a watch with a green dial. The Glasgow comment was of course tongue in cheek.
Let's just say that in over 43 years of collecting, I've never ever owned and worn a watch with a green dial. That's personal choice of course.
A friend of mine and fellow WIS just loves green dials. He also loves IWC's.
The brown strap does look not too bad though. Feel better now? :-)
Better picture of the cordovan I’ve had made.

As this thread just popped up I decided to wear mine today.
Its on a plain black leather strap with off white stitching and a very plain buckle it looks understated and superb.
IWC should use this handset more its far more distinctive and just looks right.

Happy with the black.

Not the best light.

Out of interest is the IWC easx-change backward compatible?
It’s the same strap on both watches. Photos in natural light would have been better.
David’s workmanship is first class. He only uses the best leather’s as well.
Price wise it depends on what you want. You would need to discuss with him exactly what you are looking for. He will work with you until you are 100% happy. Everything is bespoke.
Compared to other strap makers that I’ve used over the years for my Panerai’s David is by far the best.

Just got this. I’m very pleased!
I’ve ordered a Rios 1931 to see how I get on with the IWC style strap but will be looking for recommendations if I get on with the style. I see the strap tailor offers some options in unusual leathers.

I've owned a few modern IWC but they never seem to last. I do have a soft spot for IWC/PD though:

And I think these may be underrated:

Now i can switch straps between my pilot heritage and my pilot chrono 41 it also makes wearing natos a breeze

My most worn watch, 1959, serviced a couple of years ago and keeps time inside 10 secs/week if I leave it face up overnight. For me one of the true all time classics with great history, very much undervalued today imo.

Wooooo-Hooooo.
After many years of watch collecting, the watch that was never in the 'right place at the right time' has finally come to me. Pristine 3717-04 with box, papers.
Delighted would be an understatement.

Now sized & a perfect fit. The link removal with the two pin pushers is superb.
This is for me a 'home run' as far as my watch journey is concerned. I think, that with all the watches I have acquired, flipped, bought, traded over the years has now finished & the IWC is a nice 'note' to finish on.

I put the Merc. AMG rubber on my white dial today and love it.
Surprisingly it kind of works on the green too.

Couple of straps arrived today from Jacobs Ramirez in Spain. Super quality. My pics aren't great but the blue alligator makes the subtle blue chapter ring numbers on this Ingenieur Titanium Double Chronograph just pop in the light (unfortunately was unable to capture that as it turned dull as soon as I tried to take some pics).

I extended the warranty on my watch and it is now up to 2029. Anyone know if there are any servicing requirements to adhere to keep the warranty up?
I went through a big Aquatimer phase for a few years, sadly all now gone as they all wore just that little bit to big. Love the brand, and really want one of their pilots watches next - either a Mark XX or a pilots chrono (not sure which one) A 3227 Inggy has been one of my "grails" for years as well!

Nice, did you get the green rubber too? That would look great complementing the date and subdial accent.
Having spent a small fortune on OEM straps over the last couple of months thought I'd try some aftermarket, pretty happy for the price. Not EasX but quick release pins.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7dbecb4123.jpg
I actually have the blue and an orange easy x strap one that came with my Petronas and the orange I bought extra…. Tried them a couple of days ago

That aftermarket looks great… which brand did you go for?

That looks great on the Petronas/Merc. rubber.
I've used 'buystrap' before for Panerai straps so went with them for the orange rubber, not the cheapest by a long way at $59. I'm happy for what I paid but it's longer than the IWC standard, just not quite right for me. I ordered an IWC one last night which I should have done in the first place.

I have enjoyed this 5001 for many years, it’s the perfect office watch with a twist.
I’m a fan of green dial pieces, it would be interesting to combine a green strap with Tony’s pretty IWC pilot ?
Although I have two others (the Ingenieur and the Pilot Chrono), I have come to think that peak IWC is the basic Mark series watch on strap.
As with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual and one or two other watches (Calatrava perhaps), it’s basically the Ur-watch.
I like to add a bit of colour to my Le Petite Prince at times. This is a 22mm Octopod but it fits the 21mm lugs ok.

Comes from the ancient city of 'Ur' in Mesapotamia. It means 'original'. It started out as a German usage, but it now appears more widely in lots of academic contexts, eg 'Urtext' is a music or literary edition that goes back to the original manuscript or first published edition and strips away all changes and additions made by later editors. 'Ursprache' in German is an original language - typically one lost in time, leaving only common traces in more modern ones - such as the ancient common ancestor of Sanskrit and other Indo-European languages/language families. I would say anyone familar with this would have got the sense 'urwatch' - it's quite a nice coinage I think!
I’m glad someone explained.. I’d mistakenly thought it was a typo and was referencing B-Uhr or something!
