Daft isn't it. I've always thought it's crazy putting those battery change marks on the caseback.

I seem to be wearing this one a lot recently. Thinner than most shrouded ones:

Even by Seiko standards, it is also quite spectacularly well-lumed:

The radius of the bracelet matches that of the lugs both from above and from the side, if that makes sense. Another pleasing design detail from someone at Seiko.
Here's a not often seen 7A38-701B Chrono just back from service with Duncan. This is the mythical but debunked Vulcan:

Anyone tried the new mini turtle yet?
Fancy one but they're a bit expensive

+1sec over 18 days!
I know the term ‘grail watch’ gets thrown about a lot, but if I could find one of these from December 1980 I think my seiko collection would be complete.
I’ve the orange, black and pepsi all from that date and the teal would be perfect to go with them as a birth year & month set.

I didn’t know they had such a small production ‘window’, no wonder they’re never seen!
Perhaps, which would be madness on this particular model. Fair enough if consumables in the movement need replacing, but I wouldn't want the dial, hands, crystal or crown replacing - even if that meant accepting that normal pressure testing couldn't be done properly. I think it would be the last watch that you would consider jumping in water in.
Duncan can do a movement service, but has an 18 week waiting time at present, which is why I spoke to Seiko. I need an independent who can service the movement and little else.
Thanks Jim. He is the logical choice and I have had exchanges with him, but his 18 week waiting list is a little off putting.
I do have all three models, so it might be worth taking the plunge and send them all off and get them done at the same time - then look forward to Christmas.
You haven't got any spare 18mm bracelet links by any chance for that watch or a spare Z clasp?

Interesting, I sent a Seiko to them to be looked at under warranty as it was running very slow. Came back having been checked but a few months later (warranty now out) same problem again I also noticed a lovely big fingerprint on the rotor. Sent it to Duncan who checked it over and it looks like it was simply a watch that had sat on the shelves and the oils had got bunged up so needed cleaning and serviced (Which Duncan did) also got rid of that horrible fingerprint. Watch came back running absolutely spot on but just goes to show, Seiko probably just regulated it without bothering to check what the actual problem was and sent it back (fingerprint no extra charge)
It’s arrived!!!
As I got to work today my secretary announced... Hey that stupid watch thing you told me to look out for arrived this morning. Here ya go!

Tried to capture the different colours on the watch depending on the light. Looking head on it’s solid but with shadows and more light it does show a variety of different hues.
I’m very pleased so far with the orange and gold as I wasn’t sure how it would look in person.
