Hi folks,
I know that this has been discussed but insurance products change often so... has anybody RECENTLY found a good reliable insurer that will insure 50k of watches and bags withing the home insurance? These items do not go over 5k each.
I am with Admiral but the do not cover bags more than 1k, etc..
Appreciate your help here.

I'd suggest giving Hiscox a call. They're good with high value items. Items under £15k don't have to be specified.
You could try LV Home Plus. I don't have personal experience of claiming with them but they have good ratings. They should be able to cover what you need.
Have a look at M&S bank.

M&S premier cover, covers any individual item up to £15k as long as the total of those items doesn’t exceed £50k
As above and you don't have to specify the items, so it gives some flexibility if you move things in and out of your collection........ Of course it all depends on individual circumstances if £15k max per item and an overall valuables limit of £50k is right. I just renewed and the premium increased by 30% on last year but when I checked there was no comparable policy for less.Quote:

M&S is the most flexible out there if you stick to the limits. It is also cheap.
Literally just done mine, all done through A-Plan now called Howdens- 5k individual item cover away from the home, unspecified so no listing individual items.

Another point could be that I wasn't covering for watches outside the house. If you have such cover, I could see the safe issue being irrelevant.
That might be it then as I included cover for items away from the home which could alter the requirements.

It came up as a clause when I was renewing and put all my watch details in. I originally went with them 3 years ago because they had more generous limits on total value.Quote:

You have to commend the negotiations M&S have made to get this cover from their underwriter, Aviva. It's impressive to say the least.

I tried but failed to get an identical quote I got from M&S on the Aviva website (knowing that M&S are underwritten by Aviva) just a few days ago. My quote was for contents insurance only and it was the Premier policy I opted for. I've tried again this evening but again I have failed to get like for like cover from Aviva. I found the M+S contents cover to be expensive but unbeatable - but the buildings cover was expensive so I just took contents cover from them and took buildings elsewhere.

Those of you who have safety deposit boxes, do you take separate insurance to cover the items held there?
No separate insurance but since the Metro bank opening hour change I’ve moved my stuff to a different branch.
