Sounds like a 5970 then. Was it rose gold?
I would be very interested to hear from Haywood with his thoughts on the prices offered, if he watched the programme.
It looked like either a 5970 or a 5270 but they only showed it for a second so couldn’t tell.
The story seemed a bit far fetched.
The good thing about trying to get a specific year watch with the 5513 is that the dials are very well documented.
In your case if you find a mark I maxi dial you should be pretty close to 1977.
It does look a bit blue. I wasn’t sure if it was just the lighting but it could be a Tudor insert. I think I’d have to see it in person.
Pip has definitely been replaced.
The only other dial colour available is green and you’re not likely to get one of those so black is probably your only choice.
I think the most likely scenario is the AD didn’t know it’s value.
AD’s generally sell new watches. It’s not necessarily obvious that this ratty old sub would be worth many multiples of a new one...
That 1680 has a service dial so price should be nowhere near 10k.
Lovely looking watch and a great case so I would definitely still be interested if you can get it for the right price [emoji106]

I think 10-12k would have been spot on 2 months ago but I’ve seen a softening since recent events.
I wouldn’t want to pay more than 10 from a dealer at the moment.
It’s a lovely...
If you google Heuer 73353 you can see lots of examples.
I think it’s the most common style of Dugena based on the Carrera.
Is it a cushion shape like the 73353?
If I would be looking to pay about £400. Depending on condition and whether it has a bracelet etc.
Pic of my white 1680 below. Not as illustrious as the red version but still does it for me.
A matte dial 5512 would be my pic for the perfect sub. Rarer than a 5513 and with chronometer rating....
On in the window of Pragnells Stratford-upon-Avon yesterday if anyone from the midlands is looking.
A lovely one was listed on this forum a few weeks ago at £9800 and that sold pretty sharpish.
That had service papers and the original purchase receipt (but no original papers) so worth a bit of a...
Thank you
On a related note, does anyone know when the service centre at St James is open again?
Definitely on my list. Really smart watch. I need to take a trip down to London to see on in the flesh.
Is that the new Overseas? What do you think of it?
Its a lovely watch. Thanks for sharing.
That is amazing. Do you know much about the history of it?
I started out reading the other thread with the opinion that no one can know for certain and this is likely conjecture but having read it all I’m totally convinced.
Great post.
Removed as it had already been said
I’m no expert in these but it looks like someone repainted the centre of a dial that was originally black.
Some beautiful watches posted so far.
My 1680 below.

If you’re talking about whether it’s appropriately priced at an American retailer it doesn’t make any sense to take into account UK VAT & import duty.
The standard model appears to be $9500 in...
