^ I use dirt cheap saddle soap and neatsfoot oil on my boots and have done for a long time. Some folks recoil in horror at the thought of saddle soap on shoes and will quote the self same naysaying...
Blisters, pain, callouses and having to bash the insides with a stick are just your boots letting you know it was 200+ quid well spent ;)
Just picked up a pair of these, currently £75 delivered on Amazon (sold by Amazon themselves). Even factoring in the sole upgrade, not a bad price I thought.
Doesn't that negate the point of boots? ;)

Oh absolutely - I've had fabric panel boots in the past and while waterproof, after repeated mud excursions they look pretty rough pretty quickly. Ditto white soles - of course they can be cleaned...
Based on some of the above pics I'm not sure I have a pair that qualifies... Mine tend to get covered in mud, sand and who-knows-what else when traipsing over the moors or along the coast, so there's...

Not expensive but I keep them religiously oiled and saddle soaped and they keep my feet dry over the tops or mooching...
