Depends on the appliances. For example, a 9.5kW shower certainly needs a 40A fuse.
Edit- and possibly the cable (6mm or 10mm) and wiring.
Hi.. A flat I have bought has the fuse box set up with the shower run from a 40 amp fuse and the cooker run through a 32 amp fuse. I have been told that it should be the other way around - ie the cooker at 40 amp and the shower 32 amp. Grateful for expert advice.

There are rules for the cable diameter required for different lengths of supply run from box to shower.
Check the requirement for the cooker from the manual (that you got, or online).
