Do you wear your SMP on anything other than the bracelet?

I've had my 2531 16 years and haven't worn it much recently (needs an extra link in the bracelet). I popped off the bracelet for the first time this morning and tried it on a few NATOs but didn't like it on any of them. My blue Isofrane is 22mm, so that wouldn't work. I then tried it on a Tropic (I blame Ed) and really like it.

Do you have a SMP 2531 or 2254 on anything other than the standard bracelet and can you upload pics please?

I have the GMT version of the 2254 and have the following:

Speedy bracelet it came with - PITa to change links
Bond bracelet with screw links - bit chunky but nice
Omega mesh - very nice, wife nicked for her Broadarrow PRS-3
Omega rubber - currently my favourite, lots of holes for a good fit
Various NATO - not to my taste, I like the buckle under my wrist not at the side
Various 3rd party leather - OK for a bit but prefer bracelet or rubber

No pics to hand, any you specifically want to see?

Is it the Omega rubber that looks like an Isofrane? I have 1000M and Big Blue on 22mm versions and they look great. I've thought about finding one for the 2531 and Jedi.

Just got the SMPc a couple of weeks ago and I think the bracelet is the best thing about it! Don't know how much it has changed over the years but it's a comfier fit than the Speedy or AT I have, both of which I have done strap swaps on. It's such a signature piece of the watch (to me at least) it's the only one of my trio I doubt I'll try anything else with.

    SMP on rubber

I recently picked up this, and before I resized the bracelet tried an old 20mm Marathon vulcanised rubber strap.

It's excellent and suits the watch very well, incredibly comfortable.

Here's my 2254 on a Hirsch Performance 'James':

I also really like it on a sand coloured Timefactors canvas strap, but I don't have a photograph at the moment.

And here's the blue SMPc on a blue Brady 'waterproof' leather and a blue Timefactors canvas:

Yes. Looks fantastic, Omega do a fitted strap very well. In 2012 it was £90 or £100 for the strap and £10 for the buckle, direct from Omega.

    Do these qualify?

I have my blue titanium 2231.80.00 on one of these (only the Rendsburg with a Ti clasp):

Obviously it's personal tastes but I've owned two 2531s and a 2264 and none of them suited anything other than the bracelet. It's just something about that watch for me.

Same for me, the bracelet makes the watch, I have never seen another combo I like. Mine has never come off its bracelet

Mainly on a bracelet - either the standard bond or the Omega Mesh:

I lasted 16 years and it's only off the bracelet because I haven't got round to finding a spare link yet! The Tropic does feel really good though.

Both look awesome here adesmith! Didn't think you could ever beat the bracket with this classic watch but I think differently now.

Is that the official omega blue rubber strap?

Nope, but mainly because I really like the lightness of the titanium :)

The rubber strap and deployment are from eBay. Timepiece Republic is the company. I think it was around £35 for the lot. Exactly the same as oem omega except for no logo on the deployment.

Had a bit of fund finding them, but here you go:

Also available in black (with various stitching colours) and orange.

I got fed up with my bracelet being too tight on a warm day... and too loose on the next half link up.. so it's now on a black Isofrane. SUPER comfortable and IMO suits it well without the big expense of an Omega strap.

I'm surprised some of you guys haven't had more issues with the balance of the watch head off-bracelet, esp with a nato. That is, I don't like the bracelet much - I think it looks dated, I hate the lack of micro-adjustment, and I hate the pin system for the links - but I always end up back on bracelet as the watch head seems too heavy for anything else. Perhaps it's slightly too big for me.

I find the watch is perfect on the bracelet but I thought I would try something different. I've looked at an Isofrane but find them too thick, especially as the watch head looks and feels a lot thinner when not on the bracelet. The Omega rubber might be the answer. Not as supple as the Isofrane, nor with as many holes, but thinner.

I agree with others that the bracelet really is the best looking option on this watch but often difficult to get the right fit, although extremely comfortable when it is right.

I went through a phase of wearing NATO's with it, but for me the next best option to the bracelet is the Hirch Leonardo. It looks good, is waterproof and I found it very comfortable on either the pin buckle or the Hirsch "Sport" deployant:

How does the blue SMP 2531 look on the black Omega rubber 9800085? I have it in my head that the blue and black just won't look good together. Does anyone have a photo of this combination?

Ok, so it is still a bracelet, but here is the 2531 on the 1610/930 bracelet, just for the record.

That is really nice. I just put my 2531 back on its original bracelet but it is very "retro" compared to your 1610/930

I actually agree with you Rob although the photo does make it look smaller than in real life. The thing with the Seamaster is that it is a pretty thin watch compared to a lot of divers and you have to be careful to fit a strap that keeps with that size.

I did wear mine on an Omega rubber strap for a while, but much prefer the bracelet. I think it has the nicest steel bracelet of any watch I've had, maybe excepting my Ingenieur which did have a beautifully finished bracelet with a very discreet clasp.

No, I've never put a strap on either of mine.

Why would you when the bracelet is so excellent?
    Cheers,

apart from the stock bracelet, the plain black rubber (Marathon) strap, and the blue Hirsch Leonardo, all of these look butt ugly to me

The bracelet is a great fit for me but it sometimes feels showy. Had it on various, its a touch heavy on a nato but its ok.

Hirsch Robby, I found the strap not flexible enough at the thicker part, meaning it never sat right for me.

    Toshi, very soft, great strap.

Currently on a Hirsch Pure, nice pliable strap all around.

Would like to try the Omega mesh next.

Treat yourself. I don't think you'll regret it.

Once you've mastered doing it up with one hand (it's not difficult, really) and decided which side you prefer (the Omega mesh had a rounded and a flattened side to the links on their mesh)...I predict that you'll enjoy it. Somehow, IMO, it really complements the black dial, black bezel SMPs.

Never have mine on a bracelet... because it came with a leather strap from new lol

TBH it was this watch that got me into this whole watch ting, after replacing the leather strap twice at whatever stupid amount of money Omega charged I looked online for an alternative!

Not yet but I will do once I get around to sourcing a polished yet chunky enough (for a diver) 18mm Omega pin buckle to suit the SMP ceramic.

Seems to be a couple of 100% sellers on the bay, comes in just under £300, thinking in it! In the meantime I ordered some tf natos, this dark gray number is from Watchworx though, great quality.

The Seamaster 2832.21 and the 2842.21 were sold together with five shark straps in the package including Red, Yellow, Black, Green and Blue and I have the Blue one. Makes for a nice combination...

I will as my Omega doesn't offer the Micro adjustment which is really annoying... I have an incoming Omega Rubber and some Nato as well to play with my SMP GMT... Here is the watch for now on Speedy bracelet...
