Omega grey side of the moon

Went into my local ad today with the intention of taking a look at the dark side of the moon , tried it on, really liked it and was about to head off with thoughts in my head of how to plot a purchase when the sales man asked did I want to try the GSOTM on.

wow, I was blown away, I liked the dsotm but the grey was even nicer in the flesh, I know it's various shades of grey but it's a very striking watch on the wrist and the ceramic makes it an easy watch to wear despite the size

any owners on here? How does resale go on these?

For those who tried one on, or own one - what does the extra size feel like. The grey and dark are both 44.25 rather than the usual 42mm Speedmasters. The new blue Speedmaster co-axial moon phase due out later this year is the same size as the grey and dark and is nearly 18mm deep - a bit of a beasty, but one hell of a stunning watch.

I've had the GSOTM twice now. Dresses up nicely but is very big so be careful if your standard watch size is Rolex.

Re resale, don't pay full RRP as 2nd hand value will be around £5,500. You should be able to get one new for around £6k to minimise any loss

Omega grey side of the moon

I was planning on buying the GSOTM but after trying several times the grey and dark side they just felt too thick.
The watch is also quite large as Wallasey said(44,25). With that i could have lived with but combined with the thickness it just didn't feel or look right. The sapphire back lifts the watchs too high.

Depends if it sings to you before you pull the trigger. If you're not wearing that that bad boy in good health, just keep it in a draw.

Maybe new boots would keep it on the wrist?

I've receivad a DSOTM vintage black for christmas from my wife, and it has had a lot of wrist time since. I think the whole series is simply stunning, including the GSOTM. It is 't huge on the wrist at all, and it is a rather thin watch so fits nicely under a shirtsleeve.

If you fancy the GSOTM, i'd say, go for it. I managed to negotiate down to around 9k€ at the AD, but they are also found even a little cheaper in the grey cirquit. I believe Omega honors warranty regardless of where the watch was purchased.

The dark/grey/brown/etc. Side-of-the-moon is 16mm thick, so I'm not sure how that qualifies as "thin"!

However the use of ceramics means it does weigh only 90g or so, or about as much as a steel Breitling Superoean.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

I can agree with that. Whilst even with my small wrists I can cope with the size, it really is quite a thick watch.

    Still looks and feels good.

I've just dropped in to the Omega shop in Schipol airport, initially with the intention of trying on a Planet Ocean Chrono (which I did - very nice watch).

While I was in there I also had a look at a GSOTM... they are absolutely stunning. I'm in love with it. I want one. Now.

Ironically the guy in the shop made a song and dance about personally preferring the DSOTM over the grey, a slightly odd sales tactic on the basis that I was practically salivating over the GSOTM.

So now it's definitely an addition to my fantasy watch box (see my other thread for details). I'm plotting how to raise the money... I'm just a lost cause...

Available brand new from an Italian dealer via Chrono24 for just under £5600. Very tempting...

Congratulations, that is lovely, and would be my own preferred choice!
Need to wait a few more years for the price to come down though...

    Congratulations!
I hadn't appreciated till reading this thread that some are 16 and 18mm thick. Jeepers. I'd need to go back to my New Romantics shirt days to get that under my cuffs.

I hate to be the grump here but... I can't be alone when I say the design of the original Speedmaster Professional still looks a million times better than all these Dark/White/Grey side of the moon, and many other 'special editions' and so forth?

Mighty tempting, if I may add.

I was really surprised by that dial - didn't see it coming.

Someone on here posted photos of a watch he had been after for ages with a meteorite dial and had finally got one, can't remember what make it was, but wasn't Omega. I had never seen one before and thought the concept was brilliant and then a few weeks later Omega pop up with the same thing.

Same shirts here ;) I have slim wrists and have no idea of anyone fits a diver style style watch under their shirts with cufflinks. That's for a separate thread though!
