It was a lady attendant today. I didn't mind asking for her name as it was pretty clear she wasn't called Colin. There was however a Honda parked outside, no Civic though.

And I said 'Merci' rather than 'Thanks', not sure she would have understood the latter.

I've surveyed the staff car park this morning. There are three Hondas, but I was rather disappointed to see they are a Jazz, a CRV and a HRV. There were also many other makes of car.

Now I'm not sure what to do.

Oddly enough I checked our car park this morning and apart from my Honda there were no other Hondas to report.
I did however notice a red Toyota Yaris I've not seen before.
Maybe it belongs to a visitor? Maybe it belongs to a Colin? Stranger things have happened.

When I visited our Grenoble factory in 1973, the factory manager took me and my French counterpart out to lunch in his new Honda.

My colleague said ' Elle marche bien, votre voiture japonaise, monsieur'.

    In French, just like that.

Could the Toyota be the postman's?

On a different note, does anyone know why the target market for Seiko's new divers watches appears to be the Irish Traveller community?

No, they would have gone round the back of the building to 'Goods In'.

It's still there, we do have auditors in at the moment so I suspect it's one of theirs, I will continue my investigation and report back.

    Seiko Pikey?

I'm sorry to let everyone down, Terry can't visit today, I know this will be a shock for some but I think given the appropriate amount of time to move into acceptance we will all be okay. Terry now has to take his father in law to the doctors.
I'm unsure is Terry's FIL is called Colin or not I will ask him next time we speak or if this is a genuine emergency or malingering. Now I'm going to pick up some wheels for a Norton as Terry is indisposed, I should have asked who Norton was really.

It sounds nice (except for the teabag catastrophe); do you have chairs and things, like?

Sorry to hear about your chair's back problems. What's its name? (the chair, not the back problem, like).

I'm pretty certain they're using the overflow carpark now as I can't see any empty spaces in the main one.

Our Honda's spare key is bright red, I have no idea why, worse still we haven't given the key a name.

I used to think that when I retired I'd just be an onlooker, but in truth the role's no different - I'm a participant. I'm in the overflow carpark standing by my Benidorm Bronze Fiesta GL. That's me, waving the cap I got from Dunne and Co. They're closed now, I think.

    Dunne's, not the hospital.

What kind of chap challenges the mental acuity of a key without finding out their name. I've a good mind to send a strongly worded letter to my MP and the Times.

I think that's a bit of an insulting name - 'Retardant'. Mind you, I bet you'd get some nasty looks from the women in your office (you didn't mention whether the many many things included the fairer sex) if you referred to your chair as Easy.

Or Eezee as our transatlantic chums might say. Possibly.

I thought so too but that's what's on the name tag so that's what i'm going to call it.
and yes, there are many (easy) women in the office.

Anyway, lunch time soon, i'm going to Waitrose for a sandwich.

Always been very happy with my Honda petrol mower. I'd actually stick my neck out and shock you all by saying that it gives a better cut than my Hayter Harrier 41 with the Briggs and Stratton XTS50 Quantum engine. No experience of their cars other than my friend's mum who was really nice and drove a Triumph Acclaim when I was a child. She sometimes gave me lifts. The Acclaim of course was based on the Honda Ballade and used a Honda designed engine.

A good friend of mine had an old Triumph Acclaim at university. It was a strange hue of blue if I recall correctly. But given that was some years ago I may be confusing it with his later Austin Montego.

Dunne and Co have closed? Would you recommend John Collier or Hepworth's now for the purchase of cavalry twill slacks?

Dunne's, yes, and what a pity, although they were becoming a bit 'avant-garde' which is probably why bonzo697 didn't go inside. If I recall, on my last visit, they had a Jackie Stewart tartan cap on sale with fake hair attached at the sides. Well. I never, I remarked to Doreen at the time.

The Fifty Shilling Tailor was my favoured menswear emporium, though prices have escalated - my last handcut suit cost seven guineas.

I think I'll probably give my future trade to Alexandre (ask them to phone across for my measurements, although 'short portly' usually does the trick). They do 'ready made' slacks too.

Don't know about you, but I still think the 'Window to Watch' is a bit, shall we say, common. You know, like a sort of tailoring equivalent of Cyril Lord carpets.

Barons are no more. They got booted out when the whole block was redeveloped a couple of years ago - same as Bates the Hatters.

I'd say bespoke from somewhere on the Row though perhaps not Abercrombie & Fitch. I have a pair with a 30" waist that I'd consider letting go on SC. They're called Geoffrey.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

^ I know. I was nearly tempted by a coathanger in their closing down sale.

Are you a neighbour of old bonzo, then or are you visiting the hospital? Nothing serious I hope? I've just ferried Doreen down for her visit to the Geronto-Bewilderment Clinic. Pip pip!

No not a neighbour of bonzo. Visiting the hospital but nothing serious. Having a ringy thingy removed from my little finger which some anecdote said would stop me snoring and hopefully give the old girl a good night's sleep. I don't know who the old girl is but she said she knows me.

In other developments, my drive in to work was not entirely satisfactory due to my car iPod's rather poor choice of music.

I set the device to random, and it chose to play three Marilyn Manson tracks one after another.

While I do indeed like many MM tracks, I am not convinced they are entirely suitable first thing in the morning.

Have any of you been slightly disappointed by your iPod's innapropriate track choices? You would think Apple with all their technology could do better wouldn't you?

As I recall flies are a kind of black colour too, so it's commendable you could see it camouflaged against the window ledge.

Ah, I see now, I should have mentioned the colour of the ledge is white so therefore the fly is readily apparent.
