    I still don't understand why Joe Scroat steals something that's easily traced by serial numbers and the like.

    Di they just go round the local "fence" pub and get a tenner for each of them?

    Maybe because thieves aren't that bright. Prison is full of people who aren't good at foreseeing the consequences of their actions.

    Add to that the fact that nobody has ever stopped me in the street to ask the serial number of my Rolex!
