    RIP Garry Shandling

Good grief. 2016 is becoming quite the year to head for the exit.

Gosh, I remember enjoying his show (Channel 4?) in the eighties. Aged 66 and 'police were sent to his home in response to a report of a medical emergency', sounds like suicide.

    RIP Garry Shandling

Rumors say that it was a heart attack.

Just saw the comedians getting coffee episode. Another talent gone.

"Sounds like suicide" ,people do also die of natural causes even at a young age.

Yes, but normally someone calls a doctor or an ambulance, not the police to 'in response to a medical emergency'. But maybe I'm wrong.

Sad to hear this I was a huge fan of the Larry Sanders Show. His character was great in it as were his sidekicks Artie and Hank .He was very innovative with celebrities playing themselves and led the way for a lot of other shows .

I recall seeing him briefly in one of the Captain America films - which reminded me of the Larry Sanders Show - something I really enjoyed at the time

The fourth paragraph in the link -

"A coroner’s official, Lt David Smith told the AP that Shandling’s death appeared to be from natural causes and no autopsy was planned. Medical records will be used to determine how the comedian died."

So I was wrong. Perhaps if a cleaner or friend or family member finds someone well and truly beyond medical help calling the police is the automatic thing to do?

It happens on a regular basis, I've attended many calls like this. When people don't know or are unsure what to do they often phone the Police for help.

I remember finding his show buried at about 11.30pm but it was essential viewing. Curb your enthusiasm and Seinfeld would not have existed without him. Brilliantly innovative stuff.
Recently seen him in comedians in cars getting coffee and captain America -winter soldier and he looked like he'd had some bad cosmetic surgery.
Anyway, another sad loss in 2016

I did like the Gary Shandling Show but can't remember much about it (well it was almost 30 years ago) apart from breaking the fourth wall element, then Roseanne and Home Improvements came along.

The Larry Sanders Show was great, the episode/stories was probably based more on fact than fiction, like when he realised that he has less "celebrity power" than his girlfriend Sharon Stone.

I noticed the plastic surgery or botox when Ricky Gervais interviewed him in 2006 and then in the film Iron Man 2.

    RIP

Just reading his name triggered some distant memories and brought on a wave of nostalgia.
    RIP.
