Thoughts on these chronometers by Moto Koure?

I came across these in a blog - the automatic chronometers look absolutely gorgeous to me:
    http://www.motokoure.com/collections/mk-i

They would make quite a nice, cheaper, Tag Monaco alternative.

Important to note the price on the website is only a 50% deposit and in Ausssie dollars (1.9AUD:GBP).

They are interesting, with a good movement (auto in particular). The 'wood' inlay is an interesting feature if it actually looks like wood in practice.

As noted above, I believe it will be posted from Australia too so there's the usual customs considerations.

Bit of a Heuer Silverstone inspired watch, think they look ok. Btw, you mean chronograph, I doubt they have a COSC certification.

How well built the complex dial will turn out is a question. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity of peering at a whole bunch of the kickstarter microbrand watches, and was genuinely shocked by how badly made they were, especially the dials. Presumably there isn't the time or money for sending prototypes back and forth until the factory makes an accurate rendition of the render.

As is usually the case, the mechaquartz hands are pictured in an impossible arrangement:

The twentyfour hour dial is slaved to the main hour hand, and so ought to be reading either 10 or 22.

    Personally I don't like them.

I also think that the advertised price should be the sale price. The fact that it's only 50% deposit being hidden in the small print is misleading to the point of being underhand!

Not If it's the chronograph hour dial! There's no mention of a GMT function.

It's not a chronograph hour dial, nor is it a GMT function. The Seiko VK movement has two subdials: one is the chrono minutes, one is a 24 hour hand slaved to the main hour hand.

    Eg:

It's 24 hour time not another time zone (GMT).

Edit - Beaten to reply by Der Amf!

    My Aquagraph has similar arrangement.

Fair enough, I'm not familiar with that movement.

Seems a bit pointless to me though!

I like it - in certain colour combinations, but I also like that Melbourne too. And at £240 the price is not outrageous.

True but they're also a bit pointless unless on a 12 hour GMT. IMHO of course!

Better to regard it as the cheapest way of getting a subdial?

Looks like a SevenFriday, just buy a SF if that's what you want, at least the price will be the price!

    Indeed - I'm baffled!

I guess the case shape is similar...

The 24 hour subdial is a great idea if you're inside a Vegas Casino!

Almost exactly, except for the dial layout, being a chronograph, the case being rectangle with curves and not square with rounded corners

They're identical, both have black strap, a pin buckle (assumedly) have a round case and sub-dial(s)

    I've been looking at these

Gotta be honest and say I like the look in the pics but the (frankly misleading) "50%" bit annoys. Also the fact that it's only a render (not exactly up-front about that in the info) so overall, whilst I'd be interested in the cheaper version at around £200 as a box-filler, I'll wait and see if one turns up used in a while.

Reminds me very much of the Autodromo Prototipo model (as pictured earlier) in is execution.

Decided to take a punt on the mecha quartz version, always liked the Heuer Silverstone and see this as a budget version(my finances wont stretch to the Tag version at the mo).
Gone for the all black version as not mad keen on the diamond plate of the other versions.

Thanks for pointing that out, that alone is enough to put me off them entirely. Underhanded or just incompetent web design. Either way I've completely lost any interest I might have had for a moment there.
