I found the 42mm version wore a tad too large for me but I wonder if this one might be too small. 40mm would probably have been spot on.
Apparently the 37.5mm version will be marketed as a ladies version. So would you wear one?!

Leaving aside the price, that date window is WAY too close to the centre. Not one for me or my wife (who is currently wearing an Omega ladies quartz diver)
That watch was released with the 8500 Planet Oceans in 2013.

I like the idea of a 39.5 PO more than a 43.5 but thickness is always going to be the issue. Is it just the chocolate/gold version in the 39.5 size?

Although I like smaller cases in watches, I agree with the comment that it is small for the style.
If it will be marketed as a ladies version, that is the ultimate reason not to get one.
I think this watch ideal size would be 40mm, with a 42mm size as an alternative larger version, although this one wears much bigger than 42mm.
I think that 37.5mm is too small for a man, but the watch looks great.

The issue with the current PO range is their thickness. The 45.5mm model is really the only version that doesn't look too thick for its overall size IMO. The previous 2500 wears SO much better in any size below 45mm whereas the current versions just don't; well not on my wrist anyway. 37.5/39.5mm is just not a good look for these watches.
I'd have one if they were thinner but I'm sticking to Speedmasters from their modern ranges these days.
I remember trying the smaller AT a few years ago. Don't recall the diameter and thickness but it did feel odd. Would imagine the PO to be even more awkward at 37mm.
I'd be in a similar boat. I can just about get away with 42mm, although they do wear a touch big for me when on a bracelet, and I like bracelets now. But 37.5 seems a touch small for a diver. I wish more copmanies would get on the 40mm bandwagon. Perfect size for me :) Hopefully the bigger is better trend goes away soon, but no need to go to polar opposites :)

Until recently, my wife has worn the White-faced version of this for the last couple of years. She loves it, but it's definitely a ladies watch.
Not for me but 40mm would be perfect if the thickness was propotional to the diameter.
If it fits your wrist and looks good, then why not? Size is relative and it's better than wearing one that's obviously too big. But even with a skinny wrist 39.5mm would probably work fine and you won't have to contend with the marketing.
Have an SKX013 which is about the same size, so would definitely wear this one (black dial/white numerals) - minus the HE valve. 'Ladies watch' is just marketing bollox.
They have a 39.5mm model too, sadly only currently available in precious metal. But it's not hugely thick compared to other PO's, just a shade over 14mm (specs here). They seem to be using a new single-barrel variation of the 8500 movement with a lower power reserve - still 55 hours, not too shabby, and if it allows them to produce thinner watches I'm all for it.
I agree with the poster who said that the first-generation 42mm PO 2500 is the nicest-wearing of them all. Mine certainly won't be going anywhere!

Absolutely, that one is stunning...best case shape by a milestone - 42m with a slim profile! Plus that beautiful bezel and red accents and a tank of a movement...still the only watch I regret seeing!
I've had the 38mm 2254 which I flipped as I felt it was too small and then I bought a 45mm 2500 PO which I flipped as I felt it was too big, I've now got the 42mm 8500 PO which i think is just right, defintely wouldn't go back down to the 37mm version.
I wouldn't be too fussed if it was as unisex size, I have a cartier Santos 100 midsize, thats a unisex watch, the 100 XL is just too big.
I had the Seiko SBCM023 which was around 39mm, and thus, pretty close to the perfect size.
But the big problem with those Omega Planet Oceans is that they are almost half as tall as they are wide, and the smaller the case diameter, the more they feel like a stack of coins waiting to topple over. Whereas my (42mm) Omega Seamaster Pro 2264 is only 10.5mm tall, and feels much better balanced. Like they say size isn't everything, but it matters more where you put it. And the Planet Oceans have too much vertical case volume.
Losing the 2mm attributable to the sapphire case back would greatly improve things, for a start, and a thinner crystal appropriate to say 300mm WR would help too. Nobody likely to wear a Planet Ocean REALLY needs 600m WR.
I've been really enjoying midsize watches lately, since picking up a Skx013 and a DJ 36. My 6.7 inch writs are much more suited to these watches. I would definitely wear this midsize PO. I my even go and try one one :)
