    Guy Martin

I've got a lot of respect for this bloke.
The injuries he occurred and now he's trying for the world record for 'The Wall Of Death'
Watching the program that he's on now pushing the G's in the stunt plane etc, proper down to earth bloke and my hat goes off to him.

Will they let him or will it mess with the TV timings?

Incredible really.... 1hr 45 minute show and they run out of time.

I think he needs to go to a bigger hangar and give it a try there, should manage 90 easy enough

Amazing achievement and I think he could have pushed it maybe a touch further given the chance, though as Brighty has said, the home build did look a bit nervous so perhaps enough was enough. Brilliant stuff anyway from a very brave bloke!

The guys a nutter. Would love a go on that bike he made!

Been watching it, know of him, but never really seen him on tv before, down to earth bloke with either balls of steel or a death wish.

Anyone else think he would have been better staying on the indian? Was much more stable, that other bike looked twitchy at the same speed.

Great throwback TV, reminded me of when Joe Brown used to climb the Old Man of Hoy live on the Telly

The bloke is a nutter, so likeable though, a modern day Fred Dibnah + speed!

Even though he's known for bikes, he's into cars and would have made a far better top gear presenter than any of the current choices IMO.

He's also a serious mountain bike racer, particularly in endurance events. He's missing the IoM TT this year to the race the Tour Divide.

You must be as old as me. Most folks think of the banjo/guitar playing behind his neck bloke!

Program was waaaaay too long. Dragged it out and then run out of time at end for another attempt. Better if it was an hour.

He was injured during the Northwest 200, which was last summer.

Even so, that was some achievement. I was surprised that the G forces were that high.

It was the Ulster GP in August last year.

    Classic Guy Martin, very good.

Here he goes very fast in a Ferrari.

I don't think it really matters what bike he's on, they're both plenty fast enough. Being on one you built yourself is a bit special though so I understand why he used that one.

I think he's probably able to go faster if he gets more time to acclimatise to the g forces.

    Great show!

My mates just done all his windows for him - says he's a lovely bloke but a bit 'eccentric' shall we say. The neighbours have had a few run ins with him as you can imagine if they're a touch Mrs Bouquet!

    Love him.

Possibly when he fires up his `toy` - a 27 litre RR Merlin engine?

Watch the vid - he explains where he lost control of it and it `went through the workshop wall`....!

Enjoyed Wall of Death last night but I'm sure the rider that trained Guy must have been itching to have a go on the wall.

I agree, his enthusiasm is infectious and he comes across as just a normal bloke, with a normal job who loves speed!

  34. #34
He's obviously a lovely, unpretentious bloke - lt is my opinion that the true reason the universe created Guy Martin was to create the counterbalance to James Martins existence - a kind of cosmic apology...
