Just had an interesting browse through the lots.
Lot 100 caught me eye...

16th May in Geneva.
A watch with those details has surfaced before.
What do members think of that bezel insert.......?

I don't like it. I quite like this though:

...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
Looks like a replacement insert to me.
That sort of question, especially with the highest value parts, often causes a dealer something of a conflict.
I'm afraid that I don't wish to comment on open forum and provide the fakers with any assistance, but of course as a fellow tz-uk member I would happily and for no charge give an opinion on such a bezel insert if you were offered one. Is that a fair and reasonable compromise?

I was interested so had a quick search and found a couple of different ones. There's absolutely no chance I will ever be offered one, so I don't expect to call upon Haywood for assistance but appreciate the offer nonetheless!
The Christies one..
Another that looks similar posted here in 2010..

Finally a third that I found here that looks slightly different to the others..

It's a minefield, and I'm happy to be just an interested observer when it comes to vintage Rolex :-)
Estimates are just designed to get bidders interested arent they? And say how something 'smashed the estimate'... shame!
I know but it is still funny to see. Last week a was at a local auction where a Heuer 2446 had an estimate of EUR 500-800. There were 2 guys in the room without much knowledge who thought that it would end in that region. However: it ended at EUR 8600 excl 28% fee....
Dread to think what some of these will go for... Bubble prices
