Thread: What is the best way to ship a 2000+ watch to belgium?

What is the best way to ship a 2000+ watch to belgium?

    Hello Members,

i was searching for a blue dialed Rolex in the WTB section.
Member GMTmaster presented me one he had for sale and one i liked obviously-)
I asked if he'd send the watch to Belgium and he said he could.
We made a deal and i banktransferred him the money last Thursday. He said we'd settle transportation later.
Now i'd like to know what u guys think is the best and not most expensive way to ship the watch insured to my adress in Belgium.
I'd say RMSD but according to Ommid that would cost 150 pounds.

So what other possibilities can you guys recommend?

    All suggestions are welcome.

    Thx for helping us out!

You should have done your homework, gmtmaster has a bad reputation on here for taking a buyers cash and either not delivering the item or taking a long time to deliver the item. He uses this place almost as a source of interest free short term loans.

Don't expect to see the watch anytime soon!

    I wouldn’t expect a speedy delivery.

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...-Iron-bargains!

    Two options:

    Risk or Refund.

Any upstanding member would allow both options, without argument.

    i agree,

but if he doesn't refund and doesn't deliver?
At this moment there is still nothing that indicates Ommid is not going to send me the watch? is there?
    I'll wait for his reaction!

He usually supplies or refunds, it's just that you'll have to wait a while for your money back.

It wouldn’t have taken two weeks to walk the item from seller to buyer.

If you’ve read the thread and are happy, crack on. Just don’t say later you weren’t warned.

I sent a watch from uk to Denmark and it took two days.

U.K. RMSD is a next day service so two weeks is a stupidly long time!

If he sends via RMSD you do know the watch won't be insured, unless GMTMaster has a Parcel Pro account? He's going to need a courier like DHL which I believe will insure watches up to £2500. Should cost around £70.

    Good luck man

EDIT: I just remembered – it was Bank Holiday last weekend, which would explain GMTMaster's sudden desire to sell a blue-dialled Rolex.

Did you transfer the funds before last weekend?

RMSD is UK only, so he can't use that service.

    Yeah I know, I know

I meant International Tracked and Signed For, which is clearly what our Belgian friend was talking about when he says RMSD.

    Seller has bad form.

Thats not drama being created, it's concern from fellow members. Hope you don't have an issue you need help on, you'd be fine on your own I take it?

I'd take a refund at this point based on the sellers history.

Sorry, he sold you a watch without knowing what the shipping would cost - and now you're investigating shipping costs?

Wasn't clear in what I read, hence posting the clarification.

There are many dealers - Chronoagent.it is one - who don't have any watches for sale; they respond to WTBs and/or offer popular models on forums, facebook, etc., take your money and then desperately try to find a watch to buy but with a margin for them. Sometimes they succeed - hence hero posts and big thumbs up on facebook, sometimes they don't and give up, but only after a couple of weeks and then send you your money back, eventually, as it has usually been spent.

Did you see a picture of the actual watch you are going to receive?

During your desperate flurry of posts to reach the sales corner you clearly didn't read the various horror stories associated with this seller.

  27. #27
i got pictures via email of the watch yes, complete with box and papers. As i read he is already a member since 2011 with 1220 posts and some good information and comments about sold items in the hero's and villains section, i supposed it was a good member and seller and that i could buy in confidance as i did here from several others!

Why do I get this sinking feeling?

  32. #32
because the reaction of other members say enough and it seems other members had some problems dealing with GMTmaster.
Maybe i get exited for nothing. I really hope so because Ommid gave me a good feeling , we had good communication and he asured me all would go well.

the only other story i could find was a fuss about a pair of jeans that turned out well after all. Was it that one that had to make me concerned? Deleted items can't be read once they are deleted i presume.

And then left it to you to sort out postage!

The watch I sent to Denmark was under £400 but it wasn't cheap. Much less than £150 though.

Whilst the seller has bad form, he has always either delivered or refunded so you shouldn't end up out of pocket.

You can be fairly sure that you'll get either the watch or your money back.

It was more a point about the benefits of engaging with the forum as a two way process (discussing wristwatches would you believe), which helps to build up a picture of the best people to deal with.

Some pics of the watch would help in this scenario. Do you still have them?

Regarding safe delivery, i would choose UPS or FedEx. It's fully trackable across Borders, and you can have it fully insured.

    Not cheap but save ;)

this would be my decision, I would fly to Belgium, pick up watch, stay overnight, 8 ball and two ladies, fly back in the morning.

I am thinking of opening a book on this, with odds for refund after 3 weeks of 1/15 on,

GMTMaster!!!! calling GMTMaster to the thread, whats your take on this, when will he get his watch refund?

I won't comment on this situation as I know nothing about it, but to answer the original question, £2000 watch, insured delivery to Belgium via parcelforce worldwide with tracking is £121.32 one day service or £116.64 three day service.

I think the issue is the value - I recently sent a package to Croatia, Value £250, cost less than £20 insured and tracked via Royal Mail.
