Nice find.
I suspect that more often than not, watches and jewellery are looked at closely before they hit the charity shop shelves.
I almost always look at the watches when I'm in a charity shop. Last week was the first time (that I can remember) when I've bought one. A Sandoz in reasonable condition. It runs okay and looks like it only needs cleaning and a new mainspring. It has a decent FF movement. £4.99. Now on the list of watch things to do when I get my workspace sorted.
Best wishes,
Bob
Nice find.

That's pretty cool. Is the dial colour original?
If never seen any good watches in charity shops but I've seen a few scrotes going round them asking if they've got any watches or jewellery, I presume most of the shops have one looking round most days hence the lack of watches
That's a great find Bob, looks like it will scrub up nicely.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
Out of interest isnt a Sandoz of that vintage usually in the sub £10 price range?
That's a reasonable find for a charity shop these days. Bob. I can't help thinking that it has a whiff of Indian re-dial about it - are you going to make a new dial for it?
Got me on that one. Verv, it is clearly a redial. The printing on the dial is for a 17J handwound watch. This is actually a 25J automatic with Sandoz markings (FHF 90-4).
Best wishes,
Bob
Either way, you cant complain when you get a Swiss auto watch for £4.99!
Nice find Bob.
Cheers,
Neil.
I bought what I thought would be an empty Seiko box from a charity shop for £3.75.
This was inside, with all the spare links and instruction manual.
After some shaking it started and gained 1 sec from 27 dec until setting BST, and is now 2 sec fast.
It doesn't appear to have been serviced as the button at 2 still gives power reserve indication .
Regards,
Chris
Note to self - pop into a few more charity shops on the off chance...................
Good find Bob. I'd like to know when that movement is cased up, and on your wrist.
It is probably a re-dial done in India. There are some really nice watches being sold from india, most for under a tenner posted. All have been re-dialled, but quite a few contain interesting vintage movements.
