Mine arrived today from Books Etc.
As others have said, much bigger book than expected. Supreme high quality.

Arrived well packaged and fully shrink wrapped

Mine was delivered by Parcel Force.
They actually attempted delivery on Saturday but we were both working, yet they brought it out again this morning without me needing to do anything.

Great book, from a great seller, and delivered perfectly.
    Happy days.

Mine is due any day now. If it leads to the purchase of more watches, can't be helped.

    So mine arrived today!

As you can see I have been doing some light reading tonight!
It really is very well written and explains everything in a very comprehensive way!
    Good job!
All this reading has made me want to open up a watch and start playing with the movement.
I was wondering if there are some amateur watchmaking classes in the uk?
    Or any good online classes?
I have seen the tz us forum one.. is there anything similar in Europe?

Mine arrived a few days ago, shrink wrapped and perfect. It was immediately whisked away by some Christmas imp type of creature......

Got mine, very nice too. Did you know there is a watch without any visible hands or any means of actually telling The time?Well, there is. And it's in the book.
    One of many little treats.

To those who have read it is there much of interest for purely dive watch fans?

Well, it depends. There is quite a lot about the basics of watch design, which covers all areas. Divecwatches get about sixteen pages with plenty of pictures of classic models. But in truth, the book works best as a good review of watch designs of all types.
So, it is not a book about just dive watches, but I think all watch fans will enjoy it. You are guaranteed to learn a few things.

Thank you for all of your comments guys!

Regarding dive watches, paskinner is correct, 'diving and nautical complications' is a single chapter. You will get your fix of dive watches but only in a wider context with a view to covering dive bezels, Helium valves, depth gauges etc. it doesn't seek to illustrate every diver out there but there are a decent amount of them.

Keep an eye out for a book coming from Aaron Sigmond, the nautical follow-up to his Drive Time book.

In the meantime you can read my book cover to cover and become an expert on everything about mechanical watches!

    Hello Chaps

Hi all, just a note to say that, if you haven't yet heard about the book I have written an overview on ABlogToWatch.

Also, I am accumulating the independent reviews HERE.

For those who have picked it up - thank you and I hope you are enjoying it!

It is a real treat. The sort of book which needs to be in physical form......a proper, high quality production with great photographs.
I have been dipping-in to it for weeks now, and always learn something .i suppose the real 'lesson' is the sheer diversity of the hobby.
My favourite....the working watch from which you can't tell the time.

One of my closest friends was in hospital right through the Christmas period. I gave him my copy and he worked through every page with delight. It really cheered him up....so much so that he ordered a vintage Rolex for when he got out.
Will order myself another copy. It is a keeper.

I'm also really enjoying this book - a really great balance between being an enjoyable read but also really informative. The layout and use of images are really good as well IMHO.

I was given this by my daughter for Christmas and it's excellent. So, another positive review from me, although like many I think it's going to take me ages to work all the way through it!

Hello from another recipient of the book at Christmas. I am just getting round to opening it after all the mayhem and visitors over the festive period. I am looking forward to gaining more knowledge on this fascinating hobby.
