    Red Sub

I was in Italy last week for a short break. Decided to take a look at Capri, a beautiful placed but somewhat mobbed at this time of the year. Anyway stumbled across a watch seller that had a number of very collectable Rolex Sports watches in the window, so popped in and casually asked what the price was for the single red was............. "Yes sir, the one with the tropical dial, yes that is €42,000"

I know where I am going when I want to sell mine!

I suspect the price he'll offer you to buy it will be rather a lot lower than that!

To be fair depending on the originality / condition of course but if this was a meters first MK1 tropical red sub then I fear that the price you quoted probably wasn't too inflated from the going rate these days !!

'knackered' but desirable, it would appear!

Can't say I see the attraction of that cosmetic variant (red script)- or at least, not with a price premium.

The language that vintage watch dealers and enthusiasts use to describe various types of decrepitude, and justify a big premium, it just a mystery to me.
