    Question PLG vs LGV

Ive bought a 2003 T4 VW Transporter and on the little green slip off the V5 document which i have it says the 'taxation class' is private/light goods (PLG)

What is the difference between this and lights good vehicle (LGV)?

From what i can see PLG is £245 and LGV £240.

The T4 is a disabled converted with a ramp in the back. I thought it would be classed as a van to which it is (commercial vehicle)

I think it is date dependant, ie according to when vehicle was first registered

Edit :had a quick look here, it seems lgv I is the correct one for registration after 2001, but if it's currently listed as plg on the v5 then i have no clue, sorry!

It's probably because its primarily a passenger carrying vehicle rather than a goods vehicle

The fact it's converted from a van for carrying a disabled passenger (and would be tax classed as such) tends to support that.

Thanks. I did look at that but why its classed as PLG when it was registered AFTER march 2001 is beyond me.

It could be an insurance thing, vans are more expensive to insure than PLG's and if it's a disabled converted vehicle then chances are it couldn't have been used as a van so 'could' be classed as PLG?

    I'm guessing though
