It has to be said that the LLD looks great on many different straps but check it out on this £4 eBay grey strap. Nice and thin, great quality... love it.

This vintage Toshi is the strap I keep on coming back to on this 1941 Fliegerchronograph.

And another Toshi for a watch long gone - the blue stitching catches the blue in the hands.

It was the fleck in this one matching the lume on the hands that really got me started on Donegal tweed as a material.

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I like this combination: Bremont S300 and Haveston Carrier strap.

I had planned a light grey or orange rubber for this 'Zimbe' mod, but from the moment I tried this leather Zuludiver nato on it I just can't imagine it on anything that suits it more.

There are only about 3 combinations on the thread so far that I’d even consider
It's just a matter of time...

+1.........most are bad, some are very bad, but the owners clearly think otherwise.

Vintage/distressed/ aged?........they just look scruffy to me. I don’t put watches on bits of cloth either, tgat never looks right.

I guess my tastes are conventional; smart black, brown or bark blue leather straps with some padding, depending on the style and thickness of the watch. Contrasting stitching often looks OK when new but doesn’t age well IMO, white stitching ends up looking mucky grey and that’s not a good look.

Brown straps and black dials is another combination I avoid, only in rare cases does it work.

Most watches look better on their original bracelet, particularly Rolex models.

    Each to his own.........

Some of my better combinations (IMHO of course)

    1940s Omega on pig skin

I know lots of people hate divers on leather but I don't (Horween baseball glove leather)

Red for the Russian radio room.....

.....and probably makes more sense than putting it on a strap worth 4x what the watch is

Racing style strap made from Buffalo leather

Closest match I could find for the dial

I think Blue works best with this one

What else would you put on an orange F1?

This one just had to be a rubber strap

Yes I know this is terrible but at least it (kind of) matches the dial

Like it, really good combination of colour shades and looks fantastic. How does the kevlar wear? comfy?

Edit - and what's the inner lining?

The straps are a little stiff (it is Kevlar) but with a soft leather lining it wears comfy enough.

This is absolutely fantastic combo, and a great watch. If I ever get bored of my 556i, I might just go for something like this...

Thanks! It’s great and still going strong. Quite thin and nice and supple so probably the most comfortable strap I have for that watch, partly also because the holes are in the perfect place, too.

£4 was an absolute bargain. I haven’t got it wet but wouldn’t anyway. The watch (and strap) is also for sale ;)
