I’m an abstainer Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and try to limit to max 1 on Sundays. That said, when I’m on holiday, every days a beer day!

Tomorrow my “holiday” starts and I’m not back “in” again until the 26th, so as our good friend says, “watch this space”.

P.S. had delivery from Verdant this week, due some Vault City Sours and just ordered Tracks new 13.5% peanut butter banana stout!
P.P.S. don’t miss DEYA’s release of My Life In The Sunshine on Friday, it was a standout last year and I’m going to risk the wrath of Mrs Works by grabbing a 6-er!

Lots of cans being opened around here, but some of the prices I see are quite eye watering. I've had Greene King Abbot and Wychwood Hobgoblin from cans lately, both as good as from a bottle IMHO. Even though the Hob is 4.5% compared to the 5.2% from a bottle it still has the same full bodied flavour. I'm trying this now, and I think it's a little nicer than the bottled Original I had recently . . .

I'm lucky enough to be close to the Bottle Stop which sells all manner of delectable beverages. Here's a small selection of what I picked up:

That Weissbier looks interesting. Got a taste for Paulaner Weissbier last time we were in Germany. Must get some if Majestic still have it.

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I have to say, Schneider Weisse is my absolute favourite. It just seems to be quite hard to find in the UK. They do a wonderful Aventinus (Tap 6) too.
Anyway, kicking off this evening with:

Local bottle shop re-opened Thursday, they’ve been doing deliveries recently, so popped in to get a couple of pints of draft and a can. Got the Cherry Darling on draft by Ridgeside , cherry sour, really nice and refreshing. Got a can of their Picard - Orange Alert , orange curd sour - Resistance is Fruitile

It has been a short while since my last post here, my apologies for the dereliction of duties

Two notable recents were Left Handed Giant Brewery's 'King of the Woodland' Imperial Stout (12.5%, not that you'd ever, ever guess) and Totally Brewed's 'Why So Cereal???' Imperial Cereal Stout, the latter of which was a curious yet delicious mix of stout and breakfast cereal soaked milk (think Sugar Puffs, Shreddies and Cornflakes) on the palate.

These turned up about half an hour ago, Hopsters had a few Verdants delivered this afternoon so I got a few in plus some others. All ales, just different themes, will probably give the stouts a miss for a while now the weather's picking up.

    Ale! Ale! Glorious ale!

My but that's a fine looking trio! I've had the Original and the West Indies, but not tried the Milk Stout yet, although I'm sure my local Tesco Extra stocks it. Look forward to your opinion on it. We edge ever forward to that lunchtime . . .

Thursday was the new Friday this week. Off work til the 26th now, woo hoo!

    Last night was Verdant night.

After another Lightbulb, it was time to try their new Pale Ale, I Will Need Your Signature. Smashed it. So smooth, fruity and juicy I think I boshed this down in about 15mins. Mega!

After it was time for a DIPA, and staying with the Falmouth braumeisters, their West Coaster, Too Many Opinions... much hazier than I’d expect (WC IPA’s should be clear in my opinion, but refined and a shape-shifter of flavours. The piney, resinous bitterness builds and had a long, lingering finish. Lovely.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

And as if by magic, TFI Friday!

Had a nice chat with a mate in Abu Dhabi over Zoom with a pint of the marvellous Saltaire Cascade (great beer, such good value from Waitrose/Ocado).

Then it was time for something a bit different, Kernels

Absolutely delicious. Turns out I’ve had a taster before at The Barrel Project taproom in Bermondsey, but this was better than I recalled from my Untappd rating. Really fresh and smooth with oodles of tropical fruitiness. Quality beer.

I snuck in my second tin of Cloudwater & Finback’s “Please Be Lovely To Each Other” Pale Ale to wash down a Pizza Hit Hawaiian, and then motored on to this newbie - Intimately Spaced Pylons - from Verdant...

I just bought a cheapo white one without an icebox from AO.com fella. Whilst tempted to buy a bar-back style, glass fronted one, I didn’t see the point in shelling out more just to see the cans as it lives in the shed.

Another robust ale from Broughton Brewery at 6.7% should help me relax...
