Using regular springbars on the Zenith Rainbow Flyback bracelet

I've just removed the bracelet from mine, and found that it uses a pin and collar system to attach it to the watch head. I've put on a leather strap with spingbars but am wondering if there's any reason that spingbars couldn't be used with the bracelet as well. If anyone has done it, would you know what width would fit through the end links?

I had a similar issue with a Zenith, I couldn’t see any reason for not using normal springbars so that’s what I did.

Suggest you measure carefully with digital calipers and get whatever size will fill the holes best.

Really can’t see why Zenith fit them this way, adds nothing in my opinion.

Thanks Paul, I don’t understand it either. I don’t have any digital callipers but I’ll see if I can work it out through trial and error. Just need to make sure I have a poker thingy that’s longer than the width of the lugs, too.

I used 1.8mm spring bars with 0.9mm pivots iirc on my Rainbow Flyback.
Made it easier to swap between strap and bracelet.

Same for the Milspec, First thing i changed.
As long as the pivots are the same, you should be fine and they should hold securely and not damage the lug holes.

Just for those less accustomed to them, I'm assuming you mean the shoulderless type Tony.

I have Blancpain Leman that came with a bracelet secured by pins and collars... occasionally switch it to leather and use spring bars with no issues

For use with the bracelet, yes, although the ones I have on now (with the strap) have shoulders. I need to order some from cousins, actually.

I don't suppose you have a record of where you bought yours, do you? I can buy 1.8mm bars from Cousins but they don't give any info on what the width of the pivots (?) are so I'm not sure they'll fit into the lug holes. (Paul, if you could help similarly I'd be grateful.)

If you can find what the tip size is Tony you should be able to find some. For example Watchgecko state the tip length and tip diameter of theirs. A decent digital caliper is a worthwhile investment, you soon forget the cost of a Mitutoyo! ;-)

Sorry missed your post, away doing xmas stuff

I believe, the ones i got from cousins have 0.9mm pivots (sort of a standard size for a lot of watches)

I should have spares in my junk box so could post you down a bunch?

An afterthought Tony, but surely Zenith know what size the case is drilled out to to accept the pins, and also the size of the pins themselves?
