No, you don't win, I'm afraid

PS I was about to send you a photo of this evening's addition, but decided against it!
    You tease!

Been looking at Halo lights, I have a Logi camera sitting on top of my monitor, so not sure how it will look or mount tbh. Interested in your thoughts once you’re set up.

Tony, here's my 'working from home' setup if this gives you any ideas. The three laptops (there's sometimes a fourth!!!) are the work devices with the two uppermost 24" monitors repeaters/extenders for whichever laptops I connect them to. The ultrawide is attached to my personal computer (An Intel [now Asus] NUC).

The keyboard is the Logitech G915 which is superb and the mouse a Logitech MX Master 2S.

My chair is an Ergohuman Plus.

OK, you are going to have to explain the why behind all this!

3 different employers all not knowing you have other jobs?

I’ve used 2 laptops in the past, one working & 1 for my own company email etc, but never needed that many screens.

I’m seriously intrigued & a,aged you’ve been allowed to do it, my wife would have said no after the widescreen!

I'm not going to go into too much detail but I'm a Management Consultant in a specialist area. The two laptops on the right are company IT at different classifications and the laptop on the left is client IT. The additional laptop (not shown) is also client. It's bliss when I'm on leave and can clear the desk.

To answer Tony regarding what do I think of the Ergohuman chair. I'm on my second and find them excellent.

Thank you - impressive! Makes my minimalist set up seem in need of more tech!

I have a main PC driving two x 27" monitors via a KVM switch which also has a feed from my laptop docking station.

Lenovo wired keyboard - for the positive key action, and an ergonomic logitech mouse big enough to not give you carpal tunnel.

I think if I was starting out again - I would still go for twin monitors but the big change would be to go for a full electrically-height-adjustable desk to allow work standing up.

Alternating between sitting and standing when you are at the computer for long periods is so good for posture.

I think I agree with you on the desk, and would imagine that at some stage in the future I’ll end up going down that route. For now, I didn’t want to sink an additional grand into the changes I’m making, and it’s also possible that at some point going forward I’ll be able to accommodate a wider desk than I can at present.

I’m not changing my monitor right now, as I’ve mentioned above. However, my preference would be for an ultrawide screen as opposed to dual if I did make a change.

As a matter of interest, I'm contemplating covering my entire desk with 4mm tempered glass. Anyone else done that, and if so what are your thoughts?

Started wfh on glass dining room table, as you mention in a later post, fingerprint nightmare but do look good. If the light isn’t going to catch on it from the window too much, you might get away without daily polishing.

Less so as a dining table as guests all seem intent on touching the underneath of the glass which they would never do if it were wood (so why the fascination, god knows). Took an hour yesterday to clean top and underside, torch in one hand, micro fibre and glass cleaner in the other!

Yes, we have glass on the dining table too. It does show marks, but it's not difficult to polish.

Anyway, just realised that I've made an unnecessary mistake with regard to the filing trays I had on my desk (first thing that's gone wrong and hopefully the only thing). I spent as fair amount of money having three floating shelves made up in the right width, but a couple of days ago saw that they actually fit perfectly on my ladder shelves beside my printer. I'm therefore just going to put one floating shelf either side of the desk and accept begrudgingly that I needn't have bought the bloody things.

There must be something in the water, I just re-did my desk after a couple years this month too.

I'll post some pictures up once I finally get the cable management done, its an embarrasment at the moment. Very similar to yours actually LTF!

Look forward to seeing it. Still got lots to do to mine, and really looking forward to doing the new paint job on the walls.

Is the TV functional in that position or do you move the laptop to view it?

I’d say that set up is prime for a bit of a rejig.

It’s brilliant, Matt. I went for the BenQ because it has a backlight too, and I was right to do so. It also has an accessory that allows a webcam to be mounted above it; works really well aside from the unwanted additional height of about an inch and a half.

It does look the part, I have to say. I’d be worried with the extra height of my eyes not looking at the camera at all vs my screen. It has been a comment or two before. I’ve got an LED task lamp, which solved a short term need for my early morning calls with other markets, but never evolved to a better solution.

Usually he steals my attention if there isn’t a meeting, or if there is, his tail / head bop will usually change the mood of any meeting; he is known internally and to all my clients who asked where he is if he’s not appeared.

I’ve only done one disciplinary since WFH & did shut the door, bribing him with food downstairs, as didn’t think he was the best professional image for me.

As a counterpoint to the HM Aeron I bought a brand new gaming version a few years back and had to send it back under the 14 day trial. The hard seat frame dug into my left thigh after a while and it just became uncomfortable . To say the least I was a bit gutted but at least I was not out of pocket. I ended up getting a really good deal on a Human Scale leather Freedom chair and it was just much better for me. The added plus being the head rest which the HM does not have unless you get a third party accessory and I use that quite a bit. Weirdly I’d had an old HM at work years ago and it was fine and I’ve not particularly changed size.
