WG, MOP dial, a load of diamonds. I like it, but can see strong opposition from the PM haters on here.

£61k is loose change in the back pocket

Actually, those two are my favourite releases of the year.
I prefer the white mop dial though.

I appreciate the response, but I'm afraid I wasn't quite serious. I'm not really a fan of the huge escape valve and ring lock text.

It would certainly need one based on the depth ratings (that I'm guessing will never ever be reached). :-)

A blingy Deep Sea. Whatever next!

Only the Explorer II now that's still unadulterated with bling. Suppose that's 2025 W&W sorted.

An interesting take of the Rolex direction of travel following W&W: https://www.fratellowatches.com/watc...ch-with-rolex/

The opinions on Rolex moving ever further away from beloved 5 digit tool watches and towards bling won’t surprise anyone here, but it is perhaps a surprise to see them published at all. Is there a new trend for honest online watch journalism (see also the Bremont saga)?

There are counter arguments though. This year was all about precious metal and the high end, but they’ve only recently been tinkering with Explorer sizes and Oyster Perpetual dials, as well as sliming down lugs, and recalling vintage Daytonas. They were never going to recreate five digit models, so they’ve given Tudor the job. The odd gaudy model for those with more money than taste is also hardly news, that’s been going on for decades. So while a lot of the piece rings true, perhaps it’s a bit too soon to conclude that they’ve abandoned their traditional market completely.

I found the Fratello article very interesting with plenty of valid points. Coupled with the OPs words, good interesting post.

You won't need any diving weights if you wear that. That really is the plot being well and truly lost.

But if you lived in the back streets of Birmingham and really wanted to show to the guys at the local working man’s club that you were top dog, then this is the kiddy for you.

Sod rich people in Monaco, snooty toffs down the smoke and footie pundits on the box this watch deserves to be out on the mean streets.

You could recover Tesco shopping trolley’s from the local shipping canal all day long in that thing.

What’s the gold watch with a steel or Ti caseback, some online suggest a gold Milgauss, surely not…

Looking again, I think it’s the back of that chunky boy.

  16. #16

Looks like the new DD40 Everose with the new dark dial that was seen at The Oscars in that clip.

Plus maybe a Platinum or White Gold 1908 too.

Unsure on the GMT Master 2 seen in that clip.

I know some people are diehard Rolex fans and I’m sorry if this causes offence but they all look horrid. Big vulgar chunks of bling.

Can only agree ! I'm amazed there is (apparently) such a huge market for stuff like this.

In terms of aesthetics and practicality, Rolex have totally lost the plot in the last few years ...

I’m guessing no big pay day for the Grey dealers, normally something is discontinued that allows them to bump their prices overnight. Apart from some new flashy models, not much sign of anything old and well loved being shown the door.

One out of two. 12.8mm for the Coke GMT. Not bad at all.

I'm liking the new monochromatic 41mm. A little thicker at 13.6mm

I was just referring to the thickness. I'm not a fan of gilt either.

    £45,700. Wow.

    I wouldn’t wear coloured gold and don’t have £45k!

Such a strange exhibition from them

When a 26k platinum Cellini replacement looks like one of the nicer releases something really is wrong.

I meant the Tudor as I’m sure I recall you’ve had a few that quickly departed.

Reading through the replies it looks like you’re tempted again…

I am tempted, but last years black bay 41 burgundy lasted 9 days and cost me £650 so I’m in no rush.

Given how predictable the pattern is with Tudor I’ll probably cave around 2.5-2.8k in a year or so.

    Deepsea dial

Have they moved the DEEPSEA text on the 'intense black' dial for 2024? Difficult to keep up with the minor dial variations, but I thought it was with the top two lines of text on previous/last year's model/s, and the back dial does look a bit different to me? It is now where the green DEEPSEA is on the JC dial.

So overall I think most agree that the releases this year are hugely underwhelming and maybe even slightly out of touch with mostly big ticket items being released.

A 45k gold skydweller with now a jubilee. These are already the models that people aren't buying as they are so expensive, I am not sure adding a jubilee is going to make it a want.

A new Day Date with expensive dial upgrade.

    Platinum 1908... £26.6k.

and of course a £45.7k Deepsea.

    Unbelievable.

Having said that, I think the slightly more subtle GMT is a nice option to have in the range. Suprised they went for the green GMT hand though like the old LN.

Completely agree on all of this.

As for the green GMT hand, they're trying to market it as something to do with a 'connection to the land' or some other guff...I glazed over by that point of trying to read the marketing BS on the release page.
