Super enjoyable so really looking forward to seeing this.

Not watching the spoiler trailer they put out but I will watch the show.

Cutting yourself very badly slicing a Potato does not look good for his future avoiding Farm accidents though.
You can easily lose a limb or worse messing with farm machinery.

I binge watched the last 2 seasons and all I can say is wow, what a winner.

Whilst I suspect most of it is staged it’s still great entertainment. Much better than CountyFile.

Really looking forward to the next instalment.

Fully agree, definitely a winner, and apparently so for the farming community aswell.
Some of it is staged, the buying of the Lamborghini tractor being an obvious example, but overall he is genuinely trying to make the farm work.
CountryFile only any good for the scenery usually.

CountryFile is the BBC version of the countryside for city folks.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I was thinking that as well, however, I don't see Caleb doing things '... because the script says so...' . Editing will help, I presume, but it still comes over as natural. And when Clarkson's goal was/is to show how difficult farming is, well... than he's very successful showing it to us.

It doesn’t need to be staged or scripted to be entertaining and I don’t believe it is. JC has worked in television for longer than I’ve been alive and he’s very good at it.

Like a great musician who knows how to write a hit song, Clarkson knows how to make a hit tv show. He has an instinct for ‘that’ll make good tv’ and makes decisions based upon that without the need to over think it, or write it.

There’s always going to be a structure to work to - such as this year we’re going to try rearing an animal we’ve no idea about, and see what happens. If it goes well, great tv, if it goes really badly, great tv. Either way it’ll be entertaining and we’ll all be invested in the journey and learn a little along the way.

I’m looking forward to watching it unfold this year.

    Episode 2:

Kaleb: Were you in a band?

Andy Cato: I was in a band

    Kaleb: I can tell

    Andy Cato: How?

Kaleb: You've left your engine running at £1 a litre!

    Kaleb really is comedy gold.

Watched the first 2 episodes...don't like it, it's inauthentic imho, I don't care for Clarkson so may be a tad biased, but on a real farm you wouldn't make/get away with the stupid but TV entertaining mistakes see busting that wall with the automated fruit picking machine he'd been loaned, and v. probably damaged the machine too the bell... and charging 3.60 for a jar of jam containing only 50 percent fruit, if I heard correctly,...strewth.

    Well, it is the Cotswolds!

I think really, just like Top Gear, you need to put aside 100% realism and remember that it’s meant to be entertainment rather than a documentary about farming, many of which are crushingly boring.

I’ve watched all 4 available episodes now, and I’ve enjoyed them, not because I’m a particular Clarkson fan either but because it’s interesting and entertaining, even if the characters involved are obvious caricatures of themselves.

It’s a very clever way of making a tv show. Even the scripted comedy doesn’t hide the fact that farming is a difficult job, a ‘professionals’ job. You can’t have succesful tv by only showing tedious and boring-looking sowing, mowing and weeding. (I live on a road with farms along that road. I see, smell and hear them daily).

His mix of fun and reality had put UK farming back on the map. No expensive marketing campaign can do that - and even for the third year in a row.

I’m up to date with it so far too, I still can’t believe how petty the local council are being, Nimby-ism at its worst. He should run as a councillor 😁

Not watched Season 3 but certainly will

I learnt more about farming and different machinery from the first 2 seasons then living surrounded by farms for 15 years.

Yes, he is a bellend, a professional one, as he was on Top Gear for years, and as a columnist/journalist before that. He can still get information across. He ‘gets away’ with stuff as he has the money from other gigs to pay - you’ve seen the end of season figures from previous shows?

Kaleb is interesting, but I’d love to meet Charlie.

Nice to hear that I'm not alone, I gave up on Clarkson before they put "Top gear" to bed, I just don't get his popularity - he's just an opinionated old fat bloke, twas the same with Top Gear he always had to be the center of attention. Just my opinion which is of course worthless, but hey.
