Had a beard now for 13 years, my wife has never seen my clean shaven. Actually, seeing a picture of me without a beard soon after we met she told me that she would leave me if I ever shaved...

I tried once for a month in 1976. Not for me. I kept a moustache until I was in my late 20s because it made me look older. Then I shave it off because that in turn made me look younger.

    Re: the facial hair thread

I work from home, and go into the office once or twice a fortnight. Consequently, I spend most of the time unshaven. It rarely gets to the beard stage though, as it's too itchy. I usually have a shave Saturday morning.

If it gets long enough, I'll quite often shave a comedy moustache. Last summer I had a Lemmy style droopy one with 'chin straps'.

    Re: the facial hair thread

I'm clean shaven but I've had various facial hair arrangements in the past ranging from full beard to goaty. I have a pretty thick stubble (think the Ant Hill mob) and if I don't shave every day it takes ages to remove it, especially as I'm going grey now.

    Cheers,

    Gary

Occasionally go a couple of days without shaving, but that is laziness more than anything.
Hair tended to grow in small clumps until recently.
I am now reaching the age where hair disappears from the top of the head and sprouts everywhere else - I might give it a go one day - would rather like one of those Blackadder (Elizabethan) jobbies. Would it look good in grey?

I've always thought that kind of hair is a little bit sinister. Especially on a woman.

    Three questions spring to mind:

1.What sort of research has been performed to substantiate this?

2.Could there be another reason why no clean shaven men you shared a bed with never homo`d you?

3.Is homo,as in "to homo someone" now infact accepted as a verb?

when I was kind fo slimmer and younger I used to sport a short beard during the summer.
like with short bald hair and same legth short beard.
occasionally a little longer but not much.

but I really missed my sideburns so I have not worn a beard since 2004.
Also, I like to shave, makes me feel nice and fresh.
    for about 5 minutes.

during one new year's eve I started off with a full beard and cut bits off every 6 hours or so.
at midnight I was left with a clark gable mustache.
people noticed some time after, looking at the photographs of the party.
except my wife, of course, she notices everything.

once I also whent to a carnival party with half a beard (one side of the face only).
the theme of the carnival party was "duality".
everybody kep asking me why I did not dress up.
eventually they noticed my disguise, but the party was finished by then and so were the effects of alcohol.

one last time I shaved off the beard to leave the village people mustache and goatee like george michael.
but my wife kicked me out and I had to shave everything off.

    oh, well, that's about it.

here is me with bit more hair and trim beard for motorcycle riding in 2000

I voted for 'I have a beard now & then', however, this is not strictly true as it's just the result of not shaving for several weeks! Although all I have to show for that is a very short goatee .. which is not really in the beard class ..

I've not been clean shaven now for five years or so. I eventually gave up and decided that Weddings, Funerals, christenings and Job interviews could take me as I am. I only have a minimal stubble which is trimmed neatly (not poncy styled - just natural) every few days and that is it.
I marvel at folk who can be bothered to shave every day. It'd just be too much for me!

I have dabbled a couple of times with the clipped 'tache but only for novelty value when the 710 opends her eeyes first thing in the morning! Then it is straight off. It just doesn't suit me!

More or less the same here (14 years). Went from a goatee to tash + soul patch when the beard started going grey. It made me look less aggressive too.

Last time I shaved it all off my wife looked at me and after 10 seconds of silence she just said "grow it back"

Life's been a bit dull at home lately, so I was thinking of shaving it off again :blackeye:

With all the early starts and travelling I do these days I dont shave every day, call me lazy.

I am currently sitting here scratching my face as I am about 8 days in. It drives me crazy and it happens every time, I am determined to get through the itchy stage but I don know how much longer I can take this
