So Should I buy New Pam 005 or used 111?

Hi Guys

I have the oppertunity to purchase a new 005 from AD at just short of list or a used 111 circa 2008. Which would you guys go for?

I like both and they are around the same money. I can't quite decide between the sandwich dial and exposed back or the sausage with steel back. Another thought is wait till new year and see what comes avaliable on SC.

I agree with the previous poster .. buy WHAT you like .. they are both great watches, but if it were me I'd probably go for the 005 ..

Yeah I do like both for different reasons. The new 005 would have the warranty etc, I can't see much going wrong anyway as they seem pretty bullet proof. However it is nice to be the 1st owner :D

I bought a brand new 111 last year and am very happy with it. At the time I wouldn't have wanted a second hand watch, but after a year of checking out Sales Corner, I'd have no qualms about going second hand....

+1 Had an 111,also a 000, now got a 114,loved all of them,IMHO a great introduction to Panerai. Your choice between a new 005 and a used 111,obviously buy wisely and a used 111 will instantly hold it's value.Certainly it does't make alot of difference to me about the see through caseback,possibly slightly prefer the steel one's.So all in all it really come's down to the dial choice?
Anyway don't think you'll go far wrong with either of them,whichever you decide to go with :wink:

go with the 111, sandwich dial is much better. In 6 months if you still have it, with the 005 you'll go i wish i'd got the sandwich dial and display case back, you won;t be looking at the 111 going, i wish i'd owned it from new

I have a 111 and in the metal it's a lovely watch, the sandwich dial makes all the difference to me, but obviously that's just my opinion. For me I would go for the 111 but you can't lose either way.

Warning - whichever you choose once you have the Panerai bug you won't stop at only owning one, so your question should be 'which one should I get FIRST?' :D
