You lucky ba...... pics expected :D
Just had to share -
Christmas has come early - a good friend has very kindly lent me his Vantage until Christmas - goes well with the watch :)
It's just a matter of time...
You lucky ba...... pics expected :D
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Picture opportunity?
BYW, what's your full address and do you keep your keys by the front door?
One person who will not be wishing for snow
The new 'baby' Vantage or the older DB7 Vantage or (dare I) the gorgeous older DBS or V8 or DBs 4,5,6?
I guess it's the new one but I prefer the DB4 myself
Wow, that is kind. I would be off to find a tunnel and give it a few beans, so the exhaust valves fully open and the sweet music begins.
Be careful on the icey roads though,
Have fun.
:D
If it was a proper David Brown (Yorkshire :) ) car that would be great:Originally Posted by Captain Chaos

Is he looking for any new friends? My car is in for an MOT prep/service/lots of work i.e. £££££s so a loan would be appreciated to get to the shops.
Enjoy the car. Design classics.
I need new friends.
Aston Martin DB's.......................now that's what I call CLASS!Originally Posted by joepotts7

It's the old family DB6. Been in the family since new. A good character of a car with many stories. My dad keeps wanting to give it to me, but I am happy with my lot at the moment. It just came back from Aston Martin yesterday after a repair job. It was involved in a bad crach when an IDIOT ran into the back of it (thank the lord the other guy had insurance, otherwise we couldn't have repaired it):Originally Posted by stevieb
Looks like a rather large repair bill......that must have been expensive................ :tongue9:

An absolute design classic. I'd have one of these over a new Lambo or Ferrari any day.
Ooh - that's beautiful (and having been in the family from new, you must know everything about it!). :love4:
That DB6 looks in fantastic condition, wondered how many miles it had done.

Awesome DB6! Will take that any day over the the Vantage
Cheers
DB6 is possibly one of the best looking cars ever built, absolutely fantastic 8)
Nice one on the vantage too.
Just a tip, whilst snow is about keep your roof up, a guy was driving through the centre of London today with the roof off his vantage, whilst parked at traffic lights trying to look cool with some awful shite music on, a couple of lads on a fag break from a nearby office block, gathered together two snowballs and as he pulled away he got it straight in the noggin! :D
Been smiling so much driving it!
It's a very new baby vantage - well baby in Aston terms but...
The DB6 looks beautiful - DB4 is my all time favorite Aston.
Only thing I find a little :( is the key - is it true they are the same as a ford Mondeo?
Fly-off hand brake takes a little to get used to - well a couple of attempts.
Just need a few more friends as generous but with jets, helicopters, motor yachts and tropical islands and I can have the champagne lifestyle on my lemonade budget!
Sat in work this morning to - "have you seen the Aston Martin in the car park" and a once in a lifetime ability to say "er yeah I put it there" :)
It's just a matter of time...
I'd be happy with a sit in the drivers seat of one myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Captain Chaos
I'm not often jealous but in this thread 2 people have made me go GREEN with envy.
Love the new vantage (especially the noise) but that DB6 is something else.
Cheers,
Smoe quick pics - can't resize anythign decent for some reason - application is playing up - well I'm out for another drive before we go partying this evening.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Aston Martin's are just pure class!!
i would have thought other than burning the car completely out- it would be difficult to to damage a DB6 to the point where repair is not financially viable. Must be like waking up in a wet dream every time you open the garage door :lol:Originally Posted by joepotts7
hi, both beautiful cars, im not jealous, honest, you pair of tw-ts!
jim.
The problem with repair costs is how the cars are built. The £££ is all in the hand beaten aluminium work. Me and my dad are handy at restoring cars/bikes, but that style bodywork is beyond our capability. Althought the front of the car had no damage (damage up to the back of the doors only) and minimal mechanical work was necessary (low speed crash from behind), the work cost the insurers a big chunk.Originally Posted by gjlelec
Great car, pity about the knock
I bet its not much fun in this weather though :(
My Vantage went in for its yearly MOT today, and the nice man collecting it drove very gingerly in the snow LOL :)
..oh yes, the key is from Ford, the fob is from Volvo ....as are the vents, buttons and window switchgear ...theres a few bits of Jag electronics in there too
...but it sounds like an Aston should :)
The classic astons are extraordinarily expensive to repair due to the 'superlegera' configuration of the bodywork. Think of a skeleton of aluminium frame on which aliminium panels are hand beaten to form the bodywork..
Very very expensive.
The holly grail of Aston Martins for me is there:

the dbs is my dream car
the DB9 within reach and the V8V slightly more so
as others have said, Aston Martins are class... have to buy a place with a garage and start my recruitment business next year first :D -then hopefully they will be near DB7 money!!!
the three toys I'd like are Ducati 1198, [s:oi5vu3rg]Rolex Submariner[/s:oi5vu3rg] and DB9

Both of those Astons are beautiful. But, if I could only have one DB it would have to be a DB5.
ditto :lol:Originally Posted by Steve27752

Nice - newer engine sounds so impressive though - wonder what canbe achieved with some decent pipes and I don't mean huge big bore and body kit types :)Originally Posted by Enoch

Loads on Youtube mate..... Quicksilver seems to be a popular choice
I loved the DB models as a child and still love Aston now. My first choice definitely though I do have a soft spot for the Porche 911 too, esp with the wider rear wheel arches - it's a sexy model too.
My uncle in Surrey has a Jenson Interceptor that he's had since new in '77. like The Saint had. Not as sexy but wonderful to ride in. He also has a 928 4s. I drive I more modest BMW 3 series.
But one can desire and aspire to.
All the cars in the current Aston range (except the Cygnet) are bite the back of your hand beautiful IMO. Obviously ,its a matter of personal choice but i wasbn't that impressed by the V8 Vantage, the version i tried was the 4.3L, (improved later by the 4.7 then the mighty 6L V12). The Vantage is a sportscar, i wanted a grand tourer.
The current cars have lots of DB6 styling cues, look at the grill, cowled deadlights, back window, side vent, all scream DB6. For anyone contemplating an Aston, new or classic, where i believe they differ from any other car is, everytime you drive one, it feels like an event. On a sunny summers evening (remember those ? ) to jump in an Aston with your better half and cruise down to the local country pub takes some beating. Life may get better -but other than having Julia Roberts lips attached to your todger as you drive, i can't think how
I don't know why, but Astons old or new don't really do it for me in the way that other marques like Porsche do. The V8 Vantage does sound magnificent though.
I'm sure if someone lent me one I could put my prejudices to one side for a while though :)
