Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely.
Congrats!!!
Very happy I am too. Lovely watch. I was after a 5513 but then this came up from a very well respected seller/collector. It was just the best day picking this up.
Cheers David
Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely.
Congrats!!!
looks good 8) , but you know you will still keep looking for a 5513
cheers

Looks like a right minter, congrats 8)

Beautiful - I hope to own one soon. Enjoy!
very nice, feeling a bit jealous of that...
lovely watch, nice buy but that calling for a 5513 wont go away
When the time comes,I`ll volunteer to look after the 1680 :shock:Originally Posted by watch-nut

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated!!! :D It is a minter, absolutely. Never polished and not a scratch. The 5513? No, not now. For me it was about the high super-dome, and that is always a potential temporary option for the 1680 if I ever decide to try one.
Cheers David
to be honest dave, with regards to the 5513 with a super dome i always heard they didnt seal very well, as the 5513 was meant to have the dome ie, 19 not a 39
you will still want one though
cheers

Well done.
That is lovely one David.
I'm jalous: you have the original box !
Congrats,
Stephane
Condition is beautiful. :)
Cheers,
Neil.
really nice, well done. i know this may all just be rumour-mongering but two ADs have now told me there will be price rises in the new year. it does make sense particularly given yesterday's downward lurch from sterling. so i think this may turn out to be a canny purchase.
Very nice David, is it a full set ( box, papers etc ) ?
If you do get tired of it then it will be easy to move it on :)
Cheers

Those are great links, DeskDiverMick. I've often wondered about the differences in the various Rolex models cited on this forum, but felt a bit ashamed to askOriginally Posted by DeskDiverMick
Lots of reading ahead now :)
Hey guys, thanks again for the comments. Although it cost me an arm and a leg, the condition is amazing and it's my fave watch after 12 or so years collecting. Thanks again David
Late poster - sorry, but had to post as that is a real minter.
Excellent choice David and still definitely leaves you the opportunity of getting a 5513 too.
I went for a birth year so it gave me a vintage and non-date solution all in one. Very pleased with it and still tough as old boots (cleared the driveway of snow whilst wearing it this morning).
Congrats on the 1680, but you won't regret a 5513 either

Good choice David, I've just jumped as well with a 168000 bought last week........
Lovely watch in good nick.........(Merry Christmas!)
Super nice. I know it's contentious but really like the cyclops too. Enjoy it - I know I would.
One day maybe....
Merry Christmas
Great watch, hope to own one one day as well.
Very nice, looking for a Red Sub 1680 myself. Vintage is the way forward in my opinion. Wear it and gurantee the future value, cannot be better than that.
Very nice...keep..
nice. wear it well
looks very nice and well serviced'
enjoy'

Guys, just catching up on TZ-UK after Christmas away. Thanks for the posts and congrats! Much appreciated!
Cheers David
Love that, David. Have seen your wranglings/musings over which vintage sub to go for and think you've made a great choice. I opted for a 5513 (from Jed of course) but not a safe queen one (I'd be scared to wear Jed's latest offering which I'm sure could have sold ten times over!) Enjoy it and all the best with the little one.
Just inspired me to post a pic of mine! It is a 78 model and I hope yours is more recent as it looks in a lot better nick.
