From memory you can de-select the sync options on each tab within Itunes - i.e tell it NOT to sync music, podcasts etc and I think all that stuff will remain the same.
Hope this helps - sure somebody will have the definitive answer
Can anyone helphere chaps?
I know you assign one to a certain pc when you buy it.
However is it me or Do Apple stop you from having 2 accounts without it telling you it will replace device with stuff from last unit used?
My friend wants her ipod updating-pc out of action. Yet when i plugged it in it said evrything would b replaced with my stuff.
Her friend does it 4 her and has ipod herself so what's the deal?

Yeah, You need to check the box that says something like "manually manage music" so it doesn't automatically sync.
If it's an iPod then you can select to "manually sync" music. This should stop iTunes from trying to sync the new unit with its library. If it's an iPhone you can't because it only allows you to sync with one iTunes library.
