Was a nice hommage though ;)
I can not put into words my opinion on Homages so I decided to use the power of media to express myself.

Brilliant, love the ending with the jack hammer :D

Ralph Waldo Emerson: We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or noble moments that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not mechanical.
That's a waste of a perfectly good watch, still it stood up well, I would if the real deal would fair as well.
Any takers, to put it to the test? :D
The above statement is factually incorrect!Originally Posted by captainhowdy

I don't understand why somebody would do such a childish thing, the tattoo probably explains it.
The people that buy these sort of watches are never going to buy the over priced real watches, so they are not taking sales
away from the makers of the original watches.
Just a mindless destructive act of stupidity.
Just my thoughts on the mindless act !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your ignorance and judgemental attitude towards tattoo's is fantastic, you may find it childish to remove a fake watch from the watch world I see it as a duty and a pleasure to rid the world of such utter shiteOriginally Posted by nesima

As a point of order it was not a fake watch, it was a watch, it physically existed and probably told the time pretty accurately.
Lets just put it down to a mid life crisis.

don't buy it... build one youreslf... thick of it like a kit car...
I've bought a few Pam homages and then lots of spare parts, for me it's the best and cheapest way of getting into making [and breaking :D ] watches, making mods, etc. But I will only use steril dials, cases, etc taking the name is unnecessary, I can wear a homage, but wearing a fake makes me feel a fool...
more of a fool than usual... :D
Polywatch should sort.
Have to say I found this amusing and quite satisfying to watch. :D
A bit like The Italian Job where the chap says 'Preeety car' and brings the digger down on Croker's Aston DB4 (a mocked-up Lancia by the way before anyone whinges :D )
Agreed! The trainers were actually worse than the watch... :blackeye:Originally Posted by WORKSIMON

Its basically a copy, but hey, whatever, good for you messing that crap up!
The ones complaining, most likely wear this rubbish, so pay no attention. Next time though, use a better blade.
I just wanted to point out that homage does not necessarily equal fake/replica. Eddie's PRS-14 is homage and so is the PRS-20, etc.
I was impressed by how well the dial stood up to the punishment, OK, only for a few seconds - but still longer than I'd expected.
Shame about the movement, hands and strap though.
OK - I have a vested interest here as some of the watches I build are hommage (or homage, both are correct) watches.
I go by this as my definition of hommage
I'm not talking about the blatant copies of any manufacturers current or recent products, even if they have sterile dials etc."Hommage" - tribute paid to an artist, writer, composer, etc., as by incorporating some characteristic idiom or style of the person in one's own work.
There's also the worthy re-creations of old, long out-of-production classic designs that if you could find and afford an original, it's value, probable frailty and difficulty in obtaining servicing spares, would prevent it from getting regular wear. There's also a number of great watch designs where there were only ever perhaps two or five built and I get tremendous satisfaction in creating updated versions of some of these as a tribute to the original designer.
A similar situation created the market for the replica classic cars. For example, very few could ever enjoy running an original 1950's Porsche 356 Speedster as a daily driver but the Chesil Speedster is an affordable alternative, and they even get approval from Porsche.
If it does not infringe any copyright, and brings a classic design back to the market in an updated form, using reliable components and in an affordable way, where's the problem? In the one instance where I've been able to contact the original designer, he was happy to see a couple of his designs being updated and remade and did indeed consider it a tribute to his original work.
So guys, please don't confuse the true hommage watch with all the others often labelled as hommage but are really just copies in all but the name on the dial
Tougher than I would have guessed!

Did you buy this fake specifically to make this video? Seems a shame to waste the movement at any rate. Hope you enjoyed the attention.
Would you like to cut this up: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=107460&p=1124151&hilit=homebui lt#p1124151

Personally I'd cut that up too...Originally Posted by skidder

Why? It's not a dial that has ever been made by Panerai or Rolex as far as I can tell? There is no branding on the case anywhere. It has an original Unitas in it and it is not trying to be a Panerai or anything else. Or are you just being a ****?Originally Posted by Jonmurgie
