Great find, looks a solid bit of kit, not too keen on the bracelet, but a nice Kevlar will sort it. :)
Got this today, brandnew from AD. The watch was sold out in 2006
No limited no.
Room for 2 more
Will try to take some better pics later.....

Woohoo, you got it!!! It is beautiful. Mint condition too. What is not to like about it.
Strange about the missing number, as you mentioned yesterday  I thought for sure that it was tucked away on the caseback some where. Mine is written in an extremely small and fine font.
Actually, I find the bracelet one of the best out there and Certina has certainly done their homework on the design and the way it meets the case.
Now yank those horrid factory hands off and fit some better looking ones.
I do not know if you are into plonkers, but I have a project in mind and the pictured ones will be surplus to requirements, if you are interested.
BTW What a difference a different coloured date wheel makes.
Good catch Claus, incredible that you were able to find a brand new one in AD stock
Have to agree with Mr. Scout the hands are a bit anaemic, but that should be an easy fix.
Congrats.
Well done Claus. Great find. It is strange the serial number isn't etched into the case back as it is on all the ones I've seen, but i wouldn't loose any sleep over it.
I agree about the original hands. I bought one around 3 years ago but try as I might I could never come to like them, so I swapped them over for some plongeur hands (and changed the date wheel at the same time). It did improve things slightly, but I sold it shortly afterward (Watchscout - the watch in your picture could actually be my old watch - did you buy it from StuartD?). I did miss it though, and last summer I went to a get together where Mike (Seadog1408) had brought his along. It had been his work watch and so it was a bit wabi'd so he'd had the case & bracelet (minus the spare link for some reason, which I need to get done  ) bead blasted, and added some Dreadnought hands. I couldn't resist :)
on one of Eddie's black NATOs until I can get around to having the spare link bead blasted. Then I can wear it on the bracelet
I have bought and sold a few watches during the last couple of years and also owned another Certina DS3 before, so I must admit that I do not remember from whom I bought the current DS3 withut checking records.
I thought about blasting my DS, but will wait for it to get further WABI'ed up before I do it.
Great catch Claus. And a funny little detail about the missing limited edition number.
Perhaps it is a show room edition like we talked about.
Very nice now put it on a mesh as they look great. Someone on here has it on a mesh, I think it might be Nalu.
That's a great retro looking piece 8)
And as stated above, new set of hands and shoes will make it even better looking :)
Cheers'
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Congratulations. Very impressive.
Lovely, always wanted one of these. Is it about the same size as a Doxa 750T/?
Though a big fan of mesh, the bracelet of the DS-3 is so well designed and well made, that I prefer the DS on the original bracelet.Originally Posted by jk103

I do love the 1950's flying saucer side profile of these babes 8)
Nice one. I like the bracelet.
A few better pics.....
You really see many Certina's around these days, shame really because they make some nice watches
Lovely and a really nice find NOS. I agree with the hands though - need to get rid of them. Mine is fitted with the MKii Plongeur hands and Ploprof dial. It's a great improvement IMO.

very nice! I have a 1976 (-ish) DS-3, but not a diver:

Congrats, great looking and solid diver. I'm a fan of Certina, especially the vintage models.
cheers,
Dave.
Looks great!
Anyone knows how it compares to the Seiko MM, besides being cheaper?
As the bezel of the Certina is so similar to the original Omega Ploprof I think that this dial looks just so 'right' in there. Not my pic, but my watch;Originally Posted by seadog1408
i did mine with plonguer hands tom, i agree its the perfect look, however i stuck with the original dial instead of the mark II.

That certainly sits pretty high, but it looks good. Wonder if it fits under a shirt cuff? :?:
It does sit high and whether it will fit under your shirt cuff must be largely dependant upon your wrist size and how much slack there is within your cuff to start with. The tapered profile of the case allows the cuff to ride up over the watch, rather than tuck in behind it. I find that there are worse offenders than the DS3 in this regard, including many 7750 powered chronos which have almost vertical sides.Originally Posted by Jamessh
Although the watch looks like it will not slide under the cuff, I find that my DS-3 allows the cuff to ride over it easily (almost a TZ theme, but not quite :lol:I find it a valid question, as one would like the watch to be comfortable). )Originally Posted by TomGW
I looked long and hard at the PloProf dial, when I changed the factory hands to Plongeur hands. But in the end I went with another dial. I will post pics, when new hands and dial is fitted.Originally Posted by TomGW
My DS-3 will stay original.... :D
That is your perogative, if you insist at looking at the ugly hour and second hand.
 I will keep the original parts. Even the hands. Problem is they look horrid. I can not get over, how the hands look pinched, where they are attached in the center of the dial. They look like Chris Bangle on crack designed them (okay, so that was a cheap shot at Bangle).
Watch is great, but those hands........! I wonder, what they were thinking
Nice piece, congrats! 8)

I have the original dial and hands so that the next owner can change them back at any time - but I won't be doing it.Originally Posted by Tukjaer

I left mine on the original bracelet, but would like to change the hands as they let the watch down considerably. Yao sells hands that are very close to the hands used on the vintage PH1000m watches and they suit the modern version very nicely IMO.
This was one that was issued to RAN clearance divers in the 1970s.
Kind regards
Chris in Melbourne
Strangely enough, both the original Precista divers the '82 Auto and the '93 Quartz were also for issuance to clearance divers (I don't know where tho). I remember scrambling to find what 'clearance divers' were and did.Originally Posted by Chris in Melbourne

Every watch a story.
Nice find, nice watch! I agree with the comments above: different hands please, good quality nato or kevlar will suit the watch. Yao don't sell them anymore, I'm afraid. You should try a WTB on MWR. Perhaps http://www.10watches.com/ can help.
Wear it in good health!

EDIT: I can help too... I just found a set of unused MKII Plongeur hands (hour, min and sec) in my watch chest's drawer.
