IF he makes the June first shipping deadline, I'd say it take him a couple of months to get the first 100 out. I'm on the second plank which will probably take another couple.
Bill's Paradive will probably be featuring around the same time as well

Usually, it's the journey and not the destination that matters most to me. The Project Kingston journey has become a difficult one for me to follow because of too many excuses and too little action. I have a plank 1 order and I'm sure that I will be delighted when it arrives because Bill's watches are superb but I could do with less drama!!!!!!!
My first experience with ordering from Bill and frustrating would be an understatement. I'm reassuring myself the finished product will be worth it but it is a hell of a wait.
Man, those are looking sweet. I wasn't able to walk the plank however as my wallet was still recovering from my LRRP :|Originally Posted by boddah
I must admit the the wait is torture. I almost forgot I had a watch coming and had to keep reminding myself. Well, well worth the wait however.
That looks great, actually. The wait is a little frustrating and more frequent updates on WUS would be welcome, but I guess that most of us have a watch or two to wear in the meantime. I hope for Bill's sake that he can revisit his business model if he takes the brand into a different price bracket, though.
I've got a couple of Bill's watches (and I've had a couple more in the past), and they're great, but too much of a wait for me. I got in as a first stage pre-order, but I'm talking to someone about selling my slot on to them at the moment, I can't see Kingston's appearing much before the end of Q3 this year.

Seriously...WOW. Those pics look gooooood. 8)
I'm starting to regret not ordering two of these! :(

Two plank pre-orders are gone. I ordered one on the 2nd plank.
Bill will open general orders on the remaining 100 (Only 300 made) when the first one ships if you're interested. Believe me, demand for this is high
Awesome.
Bill did it again!
He should get in touch with Sean Connery's agent/publicist and arrange for him to get one. That would be some next-level homage watch ish if you actually paid tribute to the man himself...
I was sad to have missed the pre-order, but right now I am comforting myself thinking the riveted bracelet looks a bit too steam-punkish.
Awesome watch and Bill builds with quality..
Can't wait for this one, all the early pics look great...
I can relate. Seems Bill is a victim of his own success. I've always fancied a custom Vantage, but the interminable wait and the frequent (genuine) apologies for delays puts me right off. I'm not the most patient of guys.Originally Posted by Dave E

Getting more and more difficult to decide which options to spec!
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
It looks stunning, apart from the bezel pearl :?
I think I'll go for gilt dial, gild hands, no date and red triangle, but having seen the matt dial, that looks really good as well. Almost wish I'd ordered two, now.
I'm thinking the same combo,Originally Posted by Seabadger
I'm not usually a fan of gold on watches - it just doesn't do it for me. This however looks great, again, like so many others though, I am massively put off by the waiting and lack of information that seems to come from the Mk II camp. I can see the reason behind it, but surely some kind of info, even a one liner on their forum, isn't too much to ask for?!
Cheers

Bill just put up another new pic:
Fabulous looking watch. Leaning to the Gilt dial ND, gilt hands and red triangle bezel.
Does anyone know if modern C3 or BG W9 lume fade? And if so..change colour?
Just been catching up on WUS, from what I can make out the options are going to be as follows...
Dial (each with a choice of BG W9 or C3 lume)
Gilt-non-date
Gilt date only
Matte black, with white print, in date only
Hands
gilt
silver
Bezel
Red triangle and minute markings between zero and 15
Standard
Leaning towards the gilt date, gilt hands, BG W9 lume and red triange bezel myself although the non date might yet win me over as the original spec from Dr No 8)

Damn. More decisions to make. I like the symmetry of the non-date, but a date is useful :?Gilt-non-date
Gilt date only
Maybe someone more knowledgeable can answer but wouldn't a historically correct spec be gilt ND dial, steel hands and red triangle? I thought the hands only look brown on these old subs due to corrosion?
Not 100% if gilt-dial watches originally had gold hands or not as a lot seen nowadays have silver - so either they came in both versions, or a load have been replaced during their lifetime with silver.Originally Posted by NJH
As for the Kingston, think I'll be going the route of the pic above, but with the red triangle bezel fitted :)
I'll be waiting for a second hand one.
They are limited, aren't they?

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Yep, 300 but there are still 100 of those up for grabs at some point :)Originally Posted by Daddelvirks

Wasn't there someone who posted on this thread who was considering selling their pre-order slot?
No reaction as of yet :)Originally Posted by Seabadger

If anyone here is after a plank order then I may well be up for passing over my slot - got too many freakin watches as it is :)
I'm sure you'll get plenty of offers- maybe you should post up on the sales corner.

What's a plank order?
Plank order is is effectively pre-ordered with deposits paid by purchasers.
There were 200 plank orders for the KIngston all taken and paid. There will be 100 Kingstons for general sale available when the first pre-ordered ones start delivery
Thank you for that explenation :) .Originally Posted by sunster

No problem. Keep an eye out at the MK II site in June as that's when Bill has predicted the first kingstons might be shipping.Originally Posted by Daddelvirks
And keep looking until about November. :wink:Originally Posted by sunster
Just for clarity for the benefit of anyone considering making an offer for a place on the list, the first 100 orders get a fairly substantial spare part kit included in the purchase; the second hundred have been able to order it at extra cost; the 100 general sale customers will have access to the same parts, but only by returning the parts to be replaced to MkII. I think that's the situation in a nutshell.
Spare part kit is:
* Second bracelet as a spare
* Gasket kit
* Spare case body complete with crown, case tube, crystal and bezel (please note that this does not include a movement ring or second case back. These parts are available at no charge to you if you send your original parts back for exchange should you need to perform a repair)
* Spare dial and handset (if there is more than one dial/hand set option available your spare set can be different from that installed on your watch.)
The term "plank order" is an allusion to the term "plank owner", a naval term for the first crew of a ship.Originally Posted by Daddelvirks
This stems from the fact that in the days of wooden sailing ships the first crew was employed alongside the yard workers in completing the construction of the ship, mainly in the fitting of the masts and rigging.
Even to this day the first crew of a naval ship does considerable work in perparing the ship for operational service.

Just as all my projects fail to come in on time, I suspect this one is also overdue. What was the original release date?

Just had a look over at WUS - looks like things are making progress and the order page is being put together - although Bill has also said that he's going to prioritise clearing the parts backlog first.
Bill has set up an email update facility for any Kingston news on his blog. This will be useful for anyone wanting to get in on the general order
