Hey at least there's no 007 on the seconds hand :blackeye:
WTF?!?
Who did the engraving, such fine handwork! :x
That is one evil looking watch. I suppose the movement is worth buying though, if nothing else.
Watch tattoo! This could a new trend.
Could be a bargain if you can get a new case!

Looks like something a Gypsy fortune teller would be wearing.
That is unbelieveable! Whoever engraved it must have been using a screwdriver and brute force. Who on earth would buy in particular a Speedie, then do that to it?
Lack of fine motor skills + Dremel equals a bad combination.
This breaks my heart.
I would love to be a fly on the wall in Bienne if this ever made it's way there..... Then again perhaps the other option is to send it off to Purdey to be re-worked.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Vandalism

So sad.
 Wot a mistake!
There's nothing like a bit of fine craftsmanship.
And that's nothing like a bit of fine craftsmanship.......
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
I wonder if he can engrave my Patek for me ? :drunken: :drunken:
Work looks to be carried out to the same standard - perhaps he works for Patek and just does this in his spare time - some of the best work I've seen :evil:Originally Posted by vectis

If the owner wanted to throw money away, he succeeded. What a waste :hmph:
Not my cup of tea, but then again - if you want a unique, hand finished piece...
i Can'T See ThE SCReeN FoR thE teARS in MY EyEs. WHY, WHY, WHY?
OH MY EYES!!!
like sanding a guitar - it never works
That's what happens when you shake hands with the locals after a succesful moon landing
the lost watch ? 8)
Fantastic. People ARE strange.
That seems really unhealty...
I actually really like it.........NOT....!
I actually have a 'new' case, caseback and dial which would suit this. How much is that movement worth? I could pack this watch together with my bits off to STS for a rebuild. I know that STS have completed vintage SM300 Watchco kits for other folks do this would be a similar undertaking.

Of course, this is no worse that those who attempt to re-brush a brushed finish with a scrubbie pad and round off all the sharp edges, or those who bead blast a watch that was originally polished...
You just do not care for the end result.
Apparently, the seller bought if off some bloke called 'Buzz' something, :drunken: years ago..................
I see that it sold for £826.23 and actually it was located just about an hour away from me. At half that price I would seriously have considered it, but IMO that's totally over the top for a movement that needs a complete service at least. Best of luck to the buyer - at least he won't have to worry about dinging it off a door frame.
BTW, I paid just £33.77 more for my unused 6 week old Speedy Pro on the 'Bay about 5 years ago.
Nice catch. Bought my 1999 one there [box/papers etc] for £620 :D a couple of years ago.
For me, theres now't wrong with ebay!
Even the scumbags in my locale would turn their noses up at that one. Surely?
What a damned shame.
I have had no bad experiences on ebay, despite buying a number of £750 - £1000 watches. Most cost about two-thirds of their regular value on a forum such as this.Originally Posted by bongo
Well, it does look like pure crap to be sure.
But I guess Linde Werdelin decided they liked it and are going to showcase a real "tattoo" Octopus watch.
The LW octopus tattoo doesnt look much better that this one either...
that really is something special for someone special
