Bully Boy tactics in SC - Naming the culprit - 116520

    Ok

My Sub Date is up for sale at £2450 - its been up for more, but has been reduced to attract a sale.

It is on at "a good price" and comments of a positive nature are made to this effect by some.

NOW - the item is also for sale on Ebay for far more, and here's the story.......

    Member; 116520 comes on - giving it "i have a £2000 budget"

I kindly advise this is not enoughto warrant trying to buy the watch etc and advise maybe go for a non date or go US route etc.
    He persisits.....
I fend him off with more words of - please don't bother me again etc.

He then spots the watch on ebay and places an "offer" of £2400, then comes back to me saying it's his bid and Ebay will murder me on the sale so i should take his £2300.....

I tell him i am aware of fees, and that i calss this behaviour from a TZ member ass underhand and to be honest unethical.
Trying to bully me into a sale is never going to happen.

Don't know who he is - don't care - dare say if i accept the ebay offer (just to rag him...) he wouldn't pay anyway.

If he has £2400 and wants to make a genuine offer to me of that price via this site he should?
Or am i just a complete ethical tree hugger?

Anyway i told him i was going to name and shame - he wished me good luck in a pee taking fashion etc...

Just to advise members of the idiot - don't know how he could see the watch if only got 25 posts anyway - maybe regd more than once?

If i'm out of order - i'm out of order - but muppetry is not a science i understand.

The watch is still for sale - and a nice buy too.

I am a genuine seller who has allowed installments, mailed abroad etc - it's a friendly place i thought?

Nope I think your right, I think its fair enough to try a cheeky bid as you never know and everyone like to think they are getting a bargain no matter how cheap things are, but when told its a firm price the OP should respect your decision and either stump up or bow out.

I have tried a few cheeky offers myself in my time but have always accepted the OP wishes, Rude is just Rude.
    Good luck with the sale

Thats a really shocking low down dirty trick.

Wouldnt be suprised if it is a different account used to protect the potential buyers main board username.

Its your watch. You can charge whatever you like and sell it to whomever you please. He is just a bully, block him. One more good reason for the post count modification and to buy the buyer as much as the seller. Good luck.

Stick a thread in H&V as well - that's where people will search if he tries to do a deal here.

You can view in SC with 25 posts, 50 posts are required to list or reply to posts.
Sounds like a cheeky blighter though, nice watch, good price. Hope you have better luck.

I was wondering the same and as it looks like a despective term, it would be great if it was removed, as it could incite to missinterpretation...as well as being offensive to Spanish people like me....

Ahem yes, what's the Spanish connection?

Anyway, sounds like you have his eBay ID, just add it to your "blocked bidder" list and cancel his bid on the item.

Nothing to do with Spanish Fly then. :D
Bad news on the SC bullying, I don't think there's anything wrong with trying a low ball offer, the seller just needs to refuse and move on, but this kind of thing is no good.

There is a film called The Spanish Prisoner, which IIRC is named after the scam which is central to the plot. Can't remember what the scam is though as it was some time ago I saw the film.

The bullying is intolerable and offensive. Well done for naming and shaming.

Regarding "Spanish Practices" the phrase was still in use in 2007 but it is more generally ascribed to employment practices which are improper rather than sales transactions. On the basis that it may give offence to the thin skinned it is perhaps best changed. :D

The update is he has made an underhand threat to me - bring it on big boy - i'll eat you for lunch.
Apologies if i have upset any of our Spanish friends with the term i used - i have reworded - it means underhand over here, and no slur on the Spanish in general.

It's your watch. Sell it to whomever makes you an offer that you find acceptable.

You don't like the offers that this person has made, so I don't see that anything else matters.

It's the threat to cause problems with false bids on ebay that's the problem as I see it. Lowball offers are neither here nor there, offering to spoil a sale is something else.

Thats one of the problems with ebay,

With 'Buy it now' items between £0 - £1000 a seller can opt to 'Require immediate payment', which helps stop all the timewasters and bad eggs,

Only thing is for items £1000 and above, ebay takes away that option from the seller meaning any Tom, Dick and Harry can click the Buy it now button and not bother paying

    Silly ebay :)

But does the post count modification work? I registered a long time ago - but had few posts. Then again here this year found interest in TZ UK and posted some. Tried the sales corner, and could not get in. I had 18 posts. Just continued, and then after 25 post (should not be enough or?) the sales corner was available - so I think I got it from 25 posts. Happy to have it, but I thought there was a higher limit. Maybe because I was a member, probably even in 2005? but my 25th post only came in Jan - and then immediately I was admitted entry to sales corner. I do not hope this info blocks me there :? It is just questioning - does the limit work - or is it still just 25?

There's no excuse for bullying tactics.
I'm quite new on here, but I've done a reasonable amount of deals on eBay. I'm probably better known on the photograhy forums POTN and TP really. Just walk away from him and forget it. It's entirely up to you who you eventually sell to, you don't need a reason not to deal with anyone at all.

I hope it works out OK in the end.

    cheers

Have to agree with that summary. I've been getting weird lowball offers on the watches I have up for sale here in the States and I just ignore them. Threats and strange comments with weird implications are a different story.

as a newbie, i can tell y'all that the sales corner becomes visible after 25 posts but you cant post in the sales until 50 posts. To be honest though it doesn't take to long to rack up the posts.. i don't think theres any way around it :)
