Well... go on then... :)

Pictorial definition of sexy below.
Just read some Clive Cussler books. I bought the classic orange faced 750T model and just couldn't bring myself to wear the thing so it had to go.
Alot of useful info here:

The BOR bracelet is the most comfortable i've ever worn.
My knowledge extends to the fact that until a year or so ago (I haven't checked since) they had been having some very serious customer service 'issues'. Combine that with the despotic moderation of complaints/criticism on the WUS Doxa forum and I have been put off the brand for life.
Basically, a shower of b*stards from top to bottom, and boycotted since the WUS unpleasantness.Originally Posted by cmcm3
Excuse my ignorance, but what ballpark price can these be had for?

The links aren't there. Doxa nuked them. And that's the point.
I don't own one any more but their customer service was actually very good. I wanted to order some spare bracelet links and a replacement box / instructions. No problem and reasonably priced. Saying that I'm sure they've had their issues; no smoke without fire and all.Originally Posted by DMR

The cushion cases and BOR bracelets (not to mention some strong dial colours) make them fairly distinctive IMO, but other than that, I fail to see the attraction. I'm certain that the forum's confirmed Doxaholics will soon weigh in with informed opinions.
Oh and someone is bound to post that pic of several well-dressed Chinese men giving someone a standing ovation - I wonder what that's all about :D

It is pretty difficult to reference the stuff I saw originally since it was mostly on WUS and was therefore deleted by moderators. Doxa appear(ed) to be an extremely blinkered, paranoid company who would not tolerate any criticism (even constructive criticism). This quote from the rules on the WUS Doxa forum hints at their attitude:Originally Posted by doug darter

I will try and dig up some more concrete evidence...

I don't know much about the customer service issues, but I've seen quite a lot of people complaining that the quality control is not sufficient for the price range they are in.
There was a temporary refuge here and this thread explains some of the drama behind Doxa...

Classics pics above
IMO vintage is the only way to go - I've had a dozen modern Doxas and around 25 vintage - the oldies are far better watches.

Very funny  . I was dealing with Doxa in Switzerland and that's certainly where the parts came from.
Company issues aside, for me, they are the dogs danglies, brilliantly retro design, sturdy construction and features, the most comfortable bracelet ever and quite versatile with the diferent dial colours.
They fit well under a shirt and look fantastic with casual clothing so there you go...

Yep, that's the one that caught my eye. 8)Originally Posted by Nalu

Took three replys for the pics to come out. Must be getting soft in the old age. Thought these secret supply line Doxa pics were copyrighted BTW.

No, but they are now spelling Caribbean right, apparently. :lol:Originally Posted by tagesol
That whole "Searambler" thing is wrong. The word, I mean. Look at the typeface(s) and size(s), not to mention the semantics/emymology: Searambler. wtf? How many more verbs can be appended to Sea to make a nautical sounding watch name? I always read Seadweller as Sead Weller but Searambler? To ramble is to walk across countryside. It simply cannot be suffixed to Sea in any meaningful way.Originally Posted by cmcm3
That alone make its sound like something fake-y and Chinese.
It does sound like they put something, anything, on the end of Sea- because all the good stuff was already used. I read it as "Sear ambler". And the font is weird. Nice sunburst on the dial, though.Originally Posted by Rev-O

'Interesting' font they've used for Searambler - or maybe it's a whole collection of fonts in the one word?Originally Posted by Rev-O

I reckon the font's OK - apart from the 'b'. What were they thinking? It's entirely the wrong size to my eyes.
it's the "bl" thing - two wrong sized letters together.
Ugly ugly ugly
And I should know.
The vintage searamblers used a font with a smaller b but the new font on the 1200T seems wrong on all accounts. They probably tried a modern version. Doxa has a tradition of messing up dials and QC issues. Even with spelling mistakes; Stealth Lume. But of course Doxa never makes mistakes; its all by design
Doxa - I was once advised that you either get it or you don't.
Apparently, I don't.
I'm sorry mate but I have to dissagree. Yes the typeface on the new one looks wrong close up, I had never noticed it before until it was pointed out. However Searambler has been around since the late sixties when it was used on one of their original line of Sub300's long before the Chinese were involved in Swiss watch production. It's also a good point to remember that a Doxa has never been faked yet.Originally Posted by Rev-O

Well as new Doxa's are available from Doxa only, buyers are safe anyway.
Thanks. Yea Doxa actually really did come up with the goods. Couple of things I would have changed but just personal preferences.Originally Posted by Dibetu

The book launch was a day in a million. 10 of the world's top divers just treating me like I was their best buddy. Dan Crowel keeps asking me to come hang out and he will put me through a rebreather course for free. I'm back with the NUMA guys again later this month looking for Flight 2501 in Lake Michigan.

To give Doxa their due, they made a great watch for the book tie in.
Book turned out fantasic. Better than I ever could have hoped for. Printers really F'ed me over. I think I have a second run set up with other guys which will be a whole bunch cheaper, just trying to tie it all up on Monday.
