Have a crack at the search facility - Seikos seem to be modded a fair bit but there are a plethora of makers like Tourby and Steinhart who offer the ability to spec a custom watch. What level of modding were you thinking of?
Hi all,
Still a rookie, and have noticed how a lot of you talk about 'mods' to watches. Is there a link collection somewhere with vendors who offer this, watch brands especially suited, picture gallery of members modded watches, etc? In short, where do I learn more?
Thanks :-)

Here is a good place to start -
http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t208/yobokies/
Known as yobokies both here and WatchUSeek aka Harold - based in Hong Kong, highly regarded and respected.
There is a sub-forum on here - Mods and Wreckers which is a gold mine of information. I am sure others will be along to offer some more places to look :)
Thank you gents! Lots of great photos there, still trying to grasp what is possible, not sure wat I am after really. Milage seems to vary :-)
They are a good way of getting something individual and the posibilities are nearly endless...
My yobokies modified skx031 (the one on the right). I hated the original hands and spotted this on his site. He is a great guy, communicates quickly and will pretty much make what you ask! I got mine within a couple of weeks from HK.
I have two modded Seikos, this is one, which I bought from SC.
I also have a SKX177 with 007 bezel and different hands - but no photo just yet.
Sorry to offer a downer but someone has to: I fancied a real 007 modded so agreed price and specification with a sort of ex-member here, £200-worth in total. I sent the watch and money off and never saw either again. Strangetoo - you stole my stuff.
There are some great guys on here who'll mod watches for you entirely honourably but read carefully first.
The possibilities are endless--you can get exactly what you want. And correct the questionable taste of the manufacturers.
But what nobody's said: it's a slippery slope
Yeah, a slippery slope indeed!
I modded two seikos with Yobokies parts. But who knows how many to come?
Another Seiko mod from dotwatch in HK
And another Seiko mod courtesy of Noah (this one's currently sitting on a Sales Corner near you... :D )
Jimboy nice DOT Watchworks mod..they just did a Seiko snowflake which looks really good and it's on its way...though hiver a couple of names have been thrown around here check out their sites and their galleries ....I'm sure there will be something of interest
Thanks again all!
BigD, that tritium patina mod is just stunning...sweet!
Will have to look around some more to decide what way to go, not easy with all these choices

at WUS There's a permanent thread on the Seiko Citizen forum about Mods. Harold is one of the best, noah is a nice guy and makes great mods and parts. And in the netherlands we have Monsterwatches.nl, Rob makes the best Mods. Twickerdude is also a great modder. Modding is an addictive activity. Be sure to use good parts.
Addictive indeed, possibilities are endless :D
SKX007 + Yobokies PMMM dial and hands + Sapphire
SKX007 + Noah dial, hands and bezelinsert + Sapphire
SKX007 + SKX171 dial, Samurai secondhand + Sapphire + Lumpy
6309-7040 + Noah Soxa dial, hands and bezelinsert + Sapphire + beadblasting
6309 case + 7C43 movement, dial and caseback + Yobokies hands + Sapphire + beadblasting
6309-7040 + 6105 dial and hands
Rob did this for me (007 with MM dial)
I've heard it's possible to mod watches other than Seikos. THis one has a Laco case and crystal but everything else is replaced with something better than the original. I've only to find a minute-marked chapter ring that will fit, then I'm done:
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
Hi.
- Yeah Noah is great to deal with!
Here is my project...
Bought it a year ago, and it has been really fun to create a "personal watch" like these Seiko's!

Nice snowflake.
I've been told that Yobokies dials have beter lume than Noah's. Can you confirm??
Depends on the type of dial and hands you choose, but I think you're right.Originally Posted by hharry

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Marco have you got anymore pics of this particular mod? Have got an idea in my head of seeing what an 007 looks like with a standard dial but these style hands, but for the life of me can't find anyone that's had that particular mod done yet. Your's looks as close as I've found so far!Originally Posted by Marco-T

Voila :D
Mod can be simple or complex.
Here's a simple and subtle change to the Marathon JSAR.
New hands and an ETA automatic movement replacing the original quartz.
Bought from Motor City Watch Works.
Thanks Marco, perfect :)
Though I don't know why I'm thanking you, now my mind's torn between the SRP043, an 007 mod along the lines of your watch, or going for the 007 Sinn homage dial and hands!
Andy

Some of my modded Seikos:
There's some beautiful mods here guys :D
I got a quote yesterday off of Harold for an 007 with just modded hands and also new hands & dial, both with a Super Oyster bracelet, and the cost is still cheaper than some high-street 'fashion' brand quartz watches you can buy in the UK. Absolutely crazy bang for your buck!
My only problem is there's far too much choice and not enough money to buy everything I want!
This:
Looks amazing. :)
Nice pictures guys!
Here's a modded skx033 I got from Noah the other day.
I like the hands but I'm not sure about the dial. Maybe it's toooo clean... :?
Cheers,
Erik
