Darn - I have a whole set of those and it took all afternoon to get them taken too - never mind, it's an excuse to do another set :wink:Originally Posted by Chris_in_the_UK

and don't give up on the "pocket" shots
Thanks for your fantastic review of a spectacular watch! As luck would have it, I returned home from a long day to find mine back from Omega service. I've wrapped up the NOS shark mesh bracelet and extension for safekeeping. Here's my very blue Deep Blue on a matching NATO. I apologize for this Q&D flash photo:
Enjoyed the review Martyn. Thanks.
If the 120 is for rec divers and the 300 is for pros, who's the Ploprof for? Cyborgs?
good review martyn, thanks for taking the time to post, its a lovely looking watch 8) 8)
cheers

Thanks for the loverly pics.
The dark blue is a really attractive colour - particularly for the bezel.. another one to add to the 'want' list.
Thanks for the very nice review :thumbright:
Hope you continue to enjoy the deep blue :)
Nice effort Martyn. :)
I think you meant to say 166.073
My blackie from '72....
I have got the original bracelet but it's too short for me. :(
Cheers,
Neil.
GREAT review!
I know it's not the main topic, but this makes me really want a Ploprof more....
Another superb write up, keep em coming 8)

Great review of a fine vintage piece.
This is a very good looking and still wearable watch, love it!

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Great review of a lovely watch..here are some photos of my completely original "Deep Blue" which even has the original Omega Plexiglass complete with internal magnifier..
and a side by side with my SM 300

Nice one Neal.
I've read elsewhere that the sharkmesh is original to the Deep Blue, and it's a great look. My own came with the 1170 bracelet.
What, if I may ask, is you opinion - was the 1170 bracelet or the mesh originally supplied with the Deep Blue?
Just went and checked OMEGA - A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME, but the Deep Blues in there are shown on a Nato and a black strap... :roll:Originally Posted by wintermutt
I personally would have thought that it was sold on the 1170, but with the mesh available as an upgrade for a few pounds extra..
Nice 'Deep Blue' with internal magnifier 8) 8)Originally Posted by Flashharry
I have looked up details of the 'deep blue' on Omega Vintage look up site and apparently it is supplied originally on the ST 1170/634 bracelet or corfam strap 22mm lug size

Also - I'm going to correct the model # - yep meant to be ST 166.0073

Amazing that the original bezel has held up so well!
Prefer mine on the mesh:
Thanks for the review ! I love the 70s designs and this looks a lot like the 70s to me, although it seems to have been "created" in 1965.
So is the bezel "deep blue" too on all the "deep blue" models or only on some?
Then there is the version with a black dial that Omega's vintage site doesn't seem to know about...(not the first time...) I wonder if all the black dial versions have a white date on black like Neil's below ? Is the black dial version "cheaper" than the "deep blue" version, please say yes so I can start looking for one (looks like DB is around £1000-£1300+ these days based on condition, so that's a bit much for me).
Apparently there are different backs too :Originally Posted by Neil.C

You are correct there are two different casebacks mine is the bottom one.Originally Posted by webvan
I would guess the prices are similar although purely from my observations there are less black models around.
Most people want black with the white on black date but they have to put up with those crappy blue ones and pretend to like them!
Cheers,
Neil.
A real cracker indeed 8)
Best rgds :)
Great review. A beauty you don't see posted everyday
