Oh Dear!!!! What have I gone and done?

There are two things I said I would NEVER EVER buy. Under any circumstances.

One a car and the other a watch.

Well, the other day I decided it was time to trade in the Disco and buy something a little more 'sensible' now that we've moved house. So off we went to look at Mondeo's, 1800cc Mercs and the like. A reasonable sized saloon with good fuel econnomy and comfortable seating would fit the bill nicely.

Landrover rules OK

I miss the landy, (2nd one in succession), but as I don't go down the tracks I used to a 4x4 isn't what I really need. Then again, neither is the Beamer. :wink:

Miss the Landy though, great car, was only on the dealer I traded it in's fourcourt 2 days before it was sold. Landmark edition, I do miss it.

My wife had a brand new 3 series diesel hard top drop top about 4 weeks ago. At 800 or so miles on the clock the engine blow up. The only thing BMW could say was there is a fault with there new Diesel engines and alot are going wrong. Not good enough for me !!!

My wife had a brand new 3 series diesel hard top drop top about 4 weeks ago. At 800 or so miles on the clock the engine blow up. The only thing BMW could say was there is a fault with there new Diesel engines and alot are going wrong. Not good enough for me !!!

Probably a Swirl Flap ingested into the engine. It's a known fault which pops up on some of their diesel automatics - except that BMW won't openly admit it. Actually, a poor design, which is unusual for BMW and a completely unnecessary part. :twisted: It's a cheap and easy fix to have the swirl flaps removed. :)

Doesn't happen on all cars and very unusual for such low mileage, so maybe something else?

Trade in was £8,500 on an 04 plate Landmark with around 75,000 on the clock. Full leather, cruise control, climate control, the lot!!!!! Got the same offer at several garages, seemed to be irrespective of the price of car I was looking at :? Thought it should be worth more. :cry:

They put it on the forecourt at £9950 and it was gone in 2 days. :shock:

Didn't think about here to be quite honest, don't know why really. Sorry.

BMW will always get you in the end. (If you've got a pulse, that is.) It's rare these days to find someone who still likes six-cylinder engines, or even appreciates that they're in a straight line, not in a V like everyone else's.

At least that 320d coop lunched itself when it was brand new, which is the time for things to go wrong and it sounds like a production fault (there's a hell of a lot to go wrong these days). But, after 80,000 miles and two owners with reasonably regular servicing, and the turbo eats itself... that's when it gets all ambiguous and the reputation for engine excellence starts to suffer. Some 330ds suffered too. This ambiguity over responsibility, aided by some very bad dealerships near me, is stopping me from even considering a BMW diesel (I tend to keep my cars for 8-9 years).

Bet you'll grow to love it :lol:
And, that's the problem, once having DRIVEN Beemers, there doesn't seem be much else out there that gives the same 'sensation' within the total package :wink:

But that's the problem, it has changed. Before, in the Landrover, I didn't need to give way to anyone. People actually deffered to THE BEAST. Now I find myself driving more defensively, giving way to others - very much un-beamerdriver like.

Thank God I didn't buy an Audi. :lol:
