    Third new arrival this year!

Technically it's the second arrival this year - the third and best was my first child :occasion7:

Following my Legend Diver into the stable is a Getat Original Radiomir Homage (Controversial for some  )

It only cost £65 delivered and you can't grumble at that... There are a couple of small marks on the movement that you probably wouldn't expect on it's more expensive sibling, but I guess that's what you pay the extra £3535 for :P

As we all know, the design is a classic so old even the Chinese knew about it thousands of years ago

The actual watch is incredibly comfortable to wear and the missus really likes it. Everytime I wear it she tells me how much she likes it and I'm taking this to mean that I can spend the extra £3535 at some point :thumbleft:

Anyway, thanks for looking. I think it's wee dram o'clock, so I'm off

    Cheers,
    Drew

Look really good! I love the radiomir style. Been looking at the same watch myself, how long time did it take for it to arrive? I've read that some customers have to wait a long time to get them (my only concern)...

Congrats and wear it in good health :)

    Very, very nice watch!!

Don't worry too much about some people might say. It's as original as any Swiss by the a 1/10 of the price. To me that says a lot of the watch and the buyer  :thumbleft:

Well, the quote was 8 days from payment, but in reality it took about 4 weeks from payment to delivery. I bugged Tat by e-mail after 3 weeks and the watch was shipped a couple of days later.

It's all worth it in the end... and there are other sellers with ready available watches similar to that one. The thing with Getat is the costume-made angle. You can choose hands, case, strap, crystal and all that (at least on some of the models).

Check his superlume Luminor homage... it's a peach that one is!!!

It didn't seem that bad. I knew I had a little present due to drop through the letterbox - maybe I don't have chronic WISitis yet...

    1, Crap

2, Do a Google search - yes it can.

    3. No

There is nothing 'original' about this despite it's title

    Why is it crap?

And yes, it's not original. Like the OP said, it's a homage to a Panerai Radiomir. That one is a Swiss watch but will cost you an arm and a leg. So this one is a good choice if you like the style but will never in your life be able to get the real one without sacrificing other aspects of your life (or even sacrificing them). It's also a good choice if you want to try the feel for it before buying the real Panerai. Who knows, you might end up not liking it and saving a lot of money in the process.

Whatever - see it most days on here and the rest of the internet.

Justify and spend your money accordingly

It's the watch equivalent of a Reliant Robin - it's a car, but it's not really

Whatever?... I still don't see why it's crap... I know it's no Aston Martin but the OP seems quite happy with it. Don't you think that calling it crap might be a bit excessive? The OP took great care in taking all those photos and all.

I really don't want to start an argument here, I know how these things go, so sorry in advance if it seems that way.

Well, my two pence on this is that the modern Panerai Radiomir is a Swiss homage to the orignal Italian design from the original Panerai company which sadly is no longer with us. The Getat is great value for 65 quid (I have two of the Luminor homages myself - one in titanium, one brushed steel with a blacked out dial and blue hands 8) ). The modern Panerais are beautiful watches (for the most part - I still prefer the manual wind and more simple dial models) and they are in a different quality league to poor old Getat, but if you want a similar style watch for a fiftieth of the cost, you can't go too far wrong, and the customisation is great fun.

The only problem is that, in my case, I now want a Swiss Panerai even more

    I agree :)

It is what the owner wants it to be - just like the Aston Martin, not for everybody and not justifiable for everybody. Equally the argument of 90% of the item for 5% of the cost is a very personal thing which some hold dear to their heart.

Me? - I do not like Reliant Robins

Over 24 hours before someone got up on their soapbox!

Personally, I find it pretty laughable that this type of homage can raise so much bile, but the same enraged people fall over themselves to praise the PRS line. Aren't they all homages?

I'm not sure I need to justify the money spent on this watch, just like I don't feel the need to justify the money spent on my 'original' Swiss watches...

Re: Third new arrival this year!

If the purchaser likes it that is all that matters, it is not trying to pass it self off as a Panerai so what is the issue and it would seem neither is the OP. Not all of us can afford the a "real one" but appreciate the aesthetics.

I like it but have been put off slightly by some of the bad press Getat has for delays, victim of his success.

I will succumb though but will never claim it to be real.

Only two this year, come on chap I have done 3 this week alone!!

I know I'm behind the pace on this, but the new baby has her eyes on what was once my watch fund :?

She has spent an inordinate amount of time staring at and grabbing my Planet Ocean, so maybe she's already becoming a WIS??

Babies LOVE watches! They tick, the hands move, lot's of different surfaces that feel different, they are shiny, they can pick it up... what more could a baby want!
