Muff: 25yrs and counting :D
Hi......
I'm aware that a lot of collectors are into divers watches (including myself), but as a diver I just wondered how many collectors out there are qualified? :)
Cheers
Ryan
Muff: 25yrs and counting :D
Does ducking & diving count
Last Friday I've kicked power cable under my desk and dived under to plug it back, hold my breath for nearly a minute, it was really dusty there.. still managed to quickly check the lume :D

Did a 5 day PADI course in Cairns 16 years ago, does that count?
Considering how consistently my finances are under water, that ought to count for something...
did my open water in mexico a few years back, but not sure if that makes me qualified
I have to say that i am qualified since taking a couple of cerificates in diving here in sweden....nice dark muddy waters so would not say i am a "tea diver" as we say here in sweden, no offence for the tea drinkers. But we call the divers certified in for example thailand for tea divers since they get dipped a couple of times in clear water and after a couple of dippes they are cleared. Again absolutely no offence for the tea lads in here.
At the moment though i only have one diver watch and that is my first watch, the seamaster, since i sold my GOSE.
I have the first certificate for free diving and I have attended a few breathe technique seminars. I use to dive to 10-12m as a free diver, but not anymore due to medical issues. I'm still into divers watches all the way!
I'm AIDA 2* qualified, but find it difficult below about 55 feet. Eustacions hard to clear. Been bubble blowing for eighteen years. EAN qualified five or six years ago.Originally Posted by markosgr28

Army diver, back in the day.
Yes, for 10 years now.
Only a realtive novice of 4 years and have dived a few sites off the UK plus warmer water too (plus numerous dunks in Capernwray) logged about 80 dives or so.
Been diving 25 years - last 8 of which have been bubble free. Still averaging about 100 dives per year. Have a financial interest in a dive shop. Actually take my dive watches diving :o)
Enjoy your diving
Dave
Second level certificate is at 55 feet I think. I needed some practice to go for that. The problem with the eustacions I think its the most common among the divers. I stopped because of high blood pressure. Now I'm only allowed to go to 15 feet.Originally Posted by Broussard

Yes - 18 years. Did my Nitrox cert a couple of years ago.

But the yearning is returning.
Yep... fully qualified (both BSAC/PADI/CMAS) and off to Cayman in October.
Despite having several "dive watches" in my collection...
... I use a Suunto D9 dive computer ('cos in reality... the day of a rotating bezel as your primary timing tool is long gone!)
I got a PADI Divemaster cert back in 2000. Worked at it for about a year, took what was to be a short break, and never got back in the water. I do miss it.
I dove with a computer and usually a Citizen Aqualand Duplex. Still have two of those watches.
PADI certified and occasional diver.
PADI as of June this year. Signed up for Advanced.

That's right. 18m is the depth for the 2* qualification. I seem to be fine on compressed air, but seem to have problems equalising under my onw steam, so to speak (especially head down). Have been trying exercises so may loosen up. Also went to a dive doctor (London Diver Chamber) when I had some unexpected blood, but all seems fine. Hey ho.Originally Posted by markosgr28
Really sorry to hear about the blood pressure. At least we can still do the breathing exercises tho! Great way to relax. And I love the sensation of a decent static breath-hold!
Thanks for the replies gents, i was just curious more than anything, i've only been diving for 5 years myself. Anyone out there who hasn't done any diving you should give it a try :)
Cheers

Hi
First post after a lucky registration :)
PADI AOW for me, don't dive as often as would like, but here is a Monster mod for when I do.
Cheers,
John
When I was working as a divemaster, we did most of our training in a quary in PA, back in the US. Those were murky watered dark places, but if you could navigate across one at night, you could navigate anywhere. Our shop did the dive training for the US Naval Academy. We might have 50 or so Midshipmen in the water at once. That was trying, as they all thought they were God's gift.
Anyway, a few fun pics. My mate (a USA based Brit) bet me after an extended dive that I couldn't do 5 pressups in full kit. I think I did two before crashing my face.
In preparation for an ice dive on 1 Jan.
A bit of posing afterwards
Cheers,
Bruce
Yep around 10 years haven't been in a while
6 years mainly Red Sea liveaboards, also Tenerife, Malta, Bonaire
And my biggy which was Cocos...................loads of Hammer Heads :D
Not my photos but taken on the trip I was on
Have done a few in the UK but only fresh water.
As for watches no, I just use Suunto computers with integrated air transmitter, which seem pretty reliable, though I have had the odd loss of comms
Thanks
Paul
I didn't want to leave Bonaire. Could've stayed there for years.
Yep, you know it Bruce, if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much :lol:Originally Posted by BruceS

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
All those tall, thin, super hot Dutch chick divemasters ...... mmmmm :DOriginally Posted by Daddelvirks
PADI-certified open water diver.
I prefer diving where it's warm:
- Gili islands near Lombok
- Red Sea
Usually I'm diving wearing my SMP Bond (plus dive-computer).
That's exactly what I did. Probably middle of June 1994 if I remember correctly.Originally Posted by SimonK

No way I'm going as deep as my new diver can though :D .......
